The heavyweights are up to bat again this week for the final opening round matchup, as Team Whittaker's Juan Espino takes on Ben Sosoli from Team Gastelum.

Sosoli came to the show as a native of New Zealand who now resides in Australia, and he previously spent his sporting days playing rugby. Sosoli is best known for his heavy hands, as he's earned five of his six wins by knockout, and he's never been finished during his career. He comes to the show with a 6-2 record, including three victories in a row.

Espino hails from the Canary Islands in Spain and he's one of the elder statesmen in the house at 38 years of age. Espino carries an 8-1 record in his career with six straight victories, including four finishes. Coming from a wrestling background, Espino is definitely better known for his ground acumen, where he's racked up five career submission wins.

With the final slot in the semifinal round up for grabs in the heavyweight division, Sosoli and Espino will do everything possible to get the job done in this marquee matchup between Team Whittaker and Team Gastelum.

Away from the fight this week there will also be some drama between Espino and Maurice Greene, who hails from Team Gastelum. The tension between these two heavyweights has already been felt in the past, as Greene has been one of the louder and more vocal fighters in the house while Espino has largely kept to himself. Greene earned a vicious first-round knockout in the opening fight of the season, so he's had a little bit of down time since competing and he has no problem getting under the skin of any of his future opponents.

This week will see Greene and Espino at odds just days before the Spanish heavyweight is about to step into the Octagon to do battle with another Team Gastelum fighter.

Going to watch the replay of the last episode after UFC Tonight... don't even remember it. But the one tonight looks promising.

ya been waitn too, fix will be here soon, lol.

The BIG boys tonight... looking like the classic " striker vs grappler " fight.

Dang. Leah not looking like the winner. Good thing judging isn't based off of looks... Bisping vs Hendo II.

Maurice... letting the beer by the pool do the talking.

Juan being a class act. Didn't phase him. Has his head in the up coming fight...

Maurice is the guy who has been coming off as fake. Was all nice and happy at the beginning of the show and now he is constantly starting fights and talking shit for no reason.

Hashing it out. Junie would have thrown him in the pool.

No tuf talk, showed scenes from next episode right after. Macy straight up punched Ben in the face while working the pads lol

Looks like more drunk shenanigans from Maurice next episode too

Maurice is just being a jerk because nobody is wearing the hats that he made them

Juan looked very good, great takedowns there, i must say i'm very interested in his fight against Batista, 2 top grapplers at HW.. rare stuff

LOL

I think Juan wins this show. He’s a beast

Christ.
38yr old Spanish bloke with about 2yrs tops left in the sport, grinds out a flabby Aussie brawler. This season is a vile swansong. Batista will mop the floor with this Spanish dude, and Greene will KO Frazier to set up the final that Batiste will walk with takedowns.

Hard to call sosoli a striker guy's couldn't even bother to lift his arms above his waist and has no head movement, classic grappler vs heavybag.

Strikers usually fight that way against grapplers in anticipation for the takedown. I think Juan will win the whole show. Ben is a ko artist like Tuivasa and Hunt and he will be back.
