Yes he was responding to an attack on him, and it's typical Trump to attack back, but taking that route against a slain soldier's family? That is a lot of things and presidential is definitely not one of them.

The interview came across less bad than the text, but the part about the mother was so incredibly stupid. Way to appeal to all the Muslims in our military and be thankful of their service.

But the Don is a master manipulator; he wants that Jerry Springer trash vote that's at his base.

IMO he wants to win over young female voters. He already has the withe guy vote that cares about the family of a fallen soldier bit the most.
Calculated move to cater to those young females. Calling out the treatment of Muslim woman is definitely a good thing, not sure he used the right forum for it.

 

That's the thing, doesn't he already have them? At this point I wouldn't be worried about Trump losing any of the white supremacist or xenophobia vote. He had that from the start.

What gets confusing at times is that, in any of the gazillion Trump fuck up threads (and they're multiplying rapidly as the scrutiny ramps up), you don't see any of his supporters regretting his mistakes. If I was a Trumpster I would be honestly worried about him alienating anyone in the 50% of America he hasn't already. "Not being Hillary" will only get you so far.

Didnt Trump do the same thing with the mom of a soldier who died in Benghazi? But Hillary wasnt dumb enough to attack the mom of a dead soldier.

The whole Muslim soldier thing is a joke anyway. Muslims are 1% of the US population. The DNC went out of their way to find a unicorn family with the perfect set of tear-jerking circumstances. They would have had interns running around calling and interviewing families to figure out which one would give the best speech and evoke the most pity. The whole thing is fabricated and commodified, it's emotional manipulation.

They know anyone criticizing this family will immediately look like an asshole. They're probably laughing their ass off that Trump took the bait.

 

I'm not saying he shouldn't have just let it go, but this idea that every time Trump says something controversial it's going to hurt his support, is getting.old.
