Yes he was responding to an attack on him, and it's typical Trump to attack back, but taking that route against a slain soldier's family? That is a lot of things and presidential is definitely not one of them.

IMO he wants to win over young female voters. He already has the withe guy vote that cares about the family of a fallen soldier bit the most.
Calculated move to cater to those young females. Calling out the treatment of Muslim woman is definitely a good thing, not sure he used the right forum for it.

That's the thing, doesn't he already have them? At this point I wouldn't be worried about Trump losing any of the white supremacist or xenophobia vote. He had that from the start.

What gets confusing at times is that, in any of the gazillion Trump fuck up threads (and they're multiplying rapidly as the scrutiny ramps up), you don't see any of his supporters regretting his mistakes. If I was a Trumpster I would be honestly worried about him alienating anyone in the 50% of America he hasn't already. "Not being Hillary" will only get you so far.

They would have had interns running around calling and interviewing families to figure out which one would give the best speech and evoke the most pity.
