Trump rolls back Michelle Obama lunch program on her birthday...

Nobody liked it and it wasn't effective, so good riddance.

Picture this...

You JUST won a Championship. You get invited to the WH for a meal and it's probably the ONLY time you'll ever be there to dine. You get served something that you can get in nearly any city on the face of the modern world.

<{katwhu}>
Let’s not act like Obama didn’t spend 50k on hotdogs for a feast either tho.

sounds like dining at the WH isn’t all it’s cracked up to be

I love how dumbasses blame Michelle Obama for red states being shitty.
600 calories * 3 = 1800 calories is just resting, no physical activity calories for me at 145 lbs. For bigger people and people that play sports, that's starvation..

Different people have different needs. There's no one size fits all approach that works for everyone. The one size fits all thing is what socialists do and socialism destroys anyone that's not average. In this case, it starves them.

The government has no business putting people onto diets. We're supposed to be a free people. Part of that is being able to choose what we want to eat. I never thought it would come down to the government telling us what we can and can't eat, but here we are.

You're talking about children, not Myles Garrett lmfao.

Children.

You are aware we have an obesity epidemic right? 1 in 5 children in this country are obese, and disproportionately so among the poor. Please tell me more about all the burgeoning athletes who are starving because they only get 600 calories at lunch.

When I was 15, I didn't even play sports; I was just a skinny kid that lifted weights and needed 2500-3000 calories a day. 600 calorie lunches would have felt like I was dying. Actually I did wrestle for 1 season and 600 calorie lunches would have been actual starvation then. But back then all the way in 2005 I had the freedom to buy school lunches over 600 calories and it was a good thing for me. I shouldn't have that freedom taken away from me by some know-it-all in DC.

The obesity epidemic is a collection of individual decisions; what individuals decide to do is none of the government's business. It should not be mandating eating choices onto people. That's anti-freedom and sacrificing rights to the collective.

Also there's no one size fits all approach. Different people require different diets. Allow people to choose. Don't force your averageness onto everyone else. That's socialism. America is supposed to be about freedom. Including freedom to eat what you want to eat.

Yeah, crying about "socialism" isn't going to change the fact that we have an epidemic of fat ass kids who don't need to be eating 1500 calories at lunch. Period. And please stop acting like every single meal children are eating is going to be 600 calories, because that's asinine.

A single mcdouble and a small fries at McDonalds is 610 calories, not counting soda, and not counting that literally nobody gets a single mcdouble and a small fries. Your methodology is ass.

Also learn what socialism is. Because you butchering that term over and over again is figuratively killing me inside.

Give the fat kids the option to eat 400 calorie meals. Other kids need more calories. Give them the option to eat what they need to eat too. All kids are different. You got some 9th graders that are 4'10" and play Dungeons and Dragons. You got other 9th graders that are 6'4" and play football. They need different calories. Don't force the same diets onto all kids. That's some Soviet stuff. America isn't about that.

And if a kid and his parents really want to be fat? That's none of the government's or your damn business. We're (supposed to be) a free country.

I guess the kicker is, did it even make a damn difference? Or are kids fatter than ever before while still screwing over kids who's dietary needs/ wants aren't smack dab on the center of the bell curve?

And something like one in 4 kids get their only daily meals at school, so a 600kcal breakfast and a matching 600kcal lunch... well, that sounds inadequate.

What kids were being screwed over?

Let's do a simple math exercise.

-At breakfast, I eat 1000 calories

-At lunch I eat 600 calories

-At dinner, I eat 1500 calories

How many calories did I eat?

Even if you are the purported 6'9" 250 pound 15 year old who works out daily (footnote: lol), you're meeting your caloric needs for the day.

Please tell me more about muh soviets and muh freedom, because your methodology is still ass.

Sounds like an issue that school lunch standards aren't meant to solve.

Try wages.

And cheap imported labor from a virtually open boarder suppressing low skilled wages.

i mean, we could pass the buck all day. Obama-rule fueled school lunch was trash, so was Clinton era food when I was in MS/HS. It’s nothing new. No rule has changed that, I mean, the same government that said for ages we should stuff ourselves full of bread is definitely going to make the right call when it comes to nutrition, and even if they did public school food definitely gets supplied by the lowest bidder

That sounds like a goalpost moving. Also defeatism. But mainly goalposts moving.

I'll accept that concession.
