I think there has always been this many stupid people , they were just spread out , the internet allows them to find eachother and modern travel enables them to congregate .

It's a recipe for disaster really.

I imagine isolated morons aren't as brave. Strength in numbers and pooled IQ points have a certain appeal. Nothing more dangerous than an angry idiot methinks.

These ppl have always existed in large numbers. Why is America so ignorant relative to its peers? I have my assumptions but that’s something for a sociologist to determine with any relative conclusiveness.

Whatever the root causes, these folks have clearly coalesced under one unifying symbol (Trump), who represents in their mind, the last bastion of hope against the inevitable changing of America.

It certainly doesn’t help that Trump himself is incredibly ignorant and happily contributes to the unfettered spread of disinformation and conspiracy theory (Qanon etc). IMO, disinfo and conspiracism is the driving force behind America’s frightening polarization, radicalizing untold amounts of ppl who are susceptible to these types of psychological influences.
