President Trump on Monday dismissed the independent chairman of a committee tasked with overseeing the roll-out of the $2 trillion coronavirus bailout package, The Post has learned.

Glenn Fine, the acting inspector general for the Pentagon, was demoted and replaced at the Department of Justice — the move also effectively pulling him from the oversight committee he was appointed to lead one week ago, his office confirmed Tuesday.

“Glenn Fine reverts to his position as the Principal Deputy Inspector General,” Dwrena Allen, a spokesperson for the Pentagon inspector general’s office, confirmed.

“Mr. Fine is no longer on the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee,” she added.

Sean W. O’Donnell, the inspector general at the Environmental Protection Agency, was tapped by the president on Monday to replace Fine at the Pentagon while also maintaining his role at the EPA. The shake-up was first reported by Politico on Tuesday.

Fine was chosen by the nation’s top government watchdogs on March 30 to serve as the head of the body meant to oversee the implementation of the historic $2 trillion coronavirus aid bill.

The committee, made up of nine inspectors general from various government agencies, is just one of several authorities overseeing the enormous funding package.

Trump on Monday nominated a White House lawyer to serve as the special inspector general for pandemic recovery, while House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) last week announced a special committee to oversee the government’s response to the pandemic.
