It's bullshit that people can just come illegally and quickly get citizenship. Then it completely de-incentivizes people doing things by the book. WTF is the point then.

No one undocumented gets citizenship quickly. The reason they come illegally is because they have no viable path to legal immigration at all with all the nonsense and bureaucracy and backlogged applications.

Ideally they would never enter to begin with. I'm not a supporter of catch and release in the US and trusting their word that they'll be good and show up to their hearing. The risk immigrants take hitching a ride or walking all through South or Central America is that they get caught and thrown back across the way they came.

But, the ones that are here now require a different strategy. Hypothetically, if every illegal immigrant left America today it would crash the economy. Many many jobs would be vacant and it wouldn't be good. Ultimately I want them gone but the administration's quick and dirty methods have their problems.

I think really what I want not just from this issue but most political issues is for people to admit that we're talking about sensitive and complicated topics that affect real people on all sides. I don't like the arrogant attitude of "Nope. Simple problem. Simple solution.".

OK, but you can't say they should have never entered to begin with, then reward them for doing it with the same reasoning they were incentivized to come in the first place.

We do have laws, have this whole time, and the only thing that makes it complicated is that republicans for like 25 years and then democrats for the last 20 don't want them enforced, and think that just making it across should give a person permanent residency and all the rights of a citizen, so they have incentive to keep doing it by the millions. Yes, they should never have entered to begin with, but of course they do in preposterous numbers because they know the laws aren't really enforced. They can just plain sneak right in, and if that doesn't work and they get caught, then they claim asylum and go on a years long waitlist, then by the time their date comes and they don't show up, well now they can't be deported because they've "been here for years" and shit out several kids.

Trump could kick every illegal out and just start grabbing illegals at random, but instead they're prioritizing gang members and criminals. Doesn't mean those are the only people that can, should or will be deported.

You know, everything else that's a problem here aside (and there's plenty), if they had sent him to any other country and not directly into a prison in the country he was specifically not supposed to be sent.... this would not be national news on the individual case level. Additionally, if they hadn't said oh we fucked up, but it's just going to ride, this wouldn't be nearly such a big deal. But the man has, for all intents and purposes, been sentenced to life in a Salvadorian torture prison, and it happened without an actual trial of any kind, AND the government admits they fucked up. Imagine you sneak into, I dunno, Germany, the Uk, France, whatever. They catch you, and the response is being sent to a Siberian gulag forever. You see the issue? And in all likelihood imo he's already dead. The Constitution required Biden to enforce immigration law and defend the US borders. He didn't. And he didn't because he wanted this exact overwhelming mess where people like you would say they're already here and there's far too many so our hands are tied.
