I mentioned him in another thread, but right now there's a guy defying logic in the same way Naseem Hamed did. The little Armenian from Down Under, Vic Darchinyan, is arguably the hardest puncher in the Sport of Boxing right this second, and he's all of 115lbs soaking wet with a brick in his pocket.

He does almost nothing fundamentally correct. From his stance, to his hand position, to the windmill way he throws his punches. And yet this man can crack like no other, specifically with his left hand. He's hardly ever balanced, and often scuttles towards opponents with both hands up like a crab. And yet, he's put at least one guy in a coma, seriously. You can have a listen to some of his punches, but as of right this second only three guys have ever went the distance with him. One guy went the full 10 of their fight. The second guy was knocked down 3 times and barely escaped with his senses, and is himself a World Class Fighter. The third guy of course is the only guy who beat Vic, timed him perfectly and turned him into goo. However, 76% of the rest of the time, Vic beats everyone inside the distance.

P.S. - He DID break Glenn Donaire's jaw, and Victor Burgos is the guy he put in a coma.

Those were some sickening shots, sounded like someone taking a baseball bat to their faces.

You should see him Shadowbox. All he does is stand there with his arms straight out and wiggle his hips, occasionally winging a bomb or two.

I've heard he kos his sparring partners, and usually spars with guys a fair bit heavier than him.

so did his trainers initially recognize his power and just tailor a style built upon it; because it hard t believe a coach/trainer would support or allow him to conduct or execute that way, it's so avant garde in comparison to how 95%of people who box box.

his power is ridiculous though if he hits you clean, 95% of the time he ends up stepping over you; wht i think helps is his toughness and durability, he gets hit alot. But 95% of the time it doesn't even distract him much less slow him down much less hurt him

so is it a matter of if your uniquely gifted u can eschew boxing fundamentals/striking fundamentals, similar to how chuck liddel does so in mma. Obvious mistakes poor form; but knocking people the fuck out, but when he does lose or get extended people comment to the lack of polish or precision.

seen him train but never sparred him,he trains not far from me. he seems of balance but he really is not,not an easy guy to hit either.
very deceptive fighter who gets the most from his awkward style.
I dont know bout you guys in the states, you have a lot of super tough and talented boxers, the best, but here in oz its not uncommon to KO your sparring partners.

he hits extremely hard his ko of mijares was really impressive too.

Where the fuck does he get such power? It sounds like God replaced his hands with cement. The thud from his shots connecting is sickening, to be honest.

Watching the vids, it seems like he just throws haymakers, but the power he generates in with his arms is ridiculous. Somehow he uses a left that looks like a short hook mixed with a jab, and still does damage similar to that Jeremy Stephen's uppercut.

wow...he has a weird lefty style. In the first video he looked like he was kinda pawing with the left around 1:30. It looks almost like he is intentionally throwing the left slow to feel em out but damn can he throw some heat on it when he wants.

Usually I agree with KK but not this time. He didn't really show the "TRUE PUNCHING POWER" that he has against Donaire and Gorres.

lol You must not have read my post. I mentioned both Donaire and Gorres, so quit trying to be a smartass. Donaire's the guy who I said turned Vic into goo. And Gorres went the distance but he was busted open, and nearly killed in the later rounds hitting the deck no less than 3 times.

Does that mean Vic doesn't hit hard? Absolutely not. ONE guy was successful in timing him enough to win the Fight. Aside from those two and one other guy, no one has seen the final bell against Vic.

Vic also went on to knock out two World Class Fighters immediately following the draw with Gorres, and unifying the division by winning 3 Titles. So I don't know what you're disagreeing with.

Knocking a guy out cold is one thing, but making a guy just walk away in the middle of the round and quit is something else, it's rare that you see that. This guy can definitely punch.

Yeah, but some people act as if the hardest punchers shouldn't lose. Like Julian Jackson must not have been able to punch because Mike starched him and so did McClellan. Or Hamed couldn't punch suddenly because Barrera handed him his ass. Saddler must not have been able to punch because Pep beat him, etc.

These guys all have styles and if you can defeat their style and not get hit much, you can win or give them problems. But it doesn't mean they can't bang. Being the hardest current puncher is about all Vic's got going for him, but it's been enough to unify two divisions.

This is what I find so intriguing about Boxing. Someone on the outside may not understand the subtle nuances that populate the chess match in the ring. Anyone is capable of being defeated if you can find a ***** in their armor and if the strategy is sound and you're able to carry out the battle plans, then you should win. Good post.

EDIT: WTH? Did my post get filtered for the word, C-H-I-N-K? Is it because it also happens to be a racial slur or does it have something to do with computer stuff like M-E-T-A?

mr sinister, I know you don't really believe power is the only thing vics got going for him.

Maybe he's cheaitng? I remember a CSI episode where the guy put mercury in his gloves. Ok thats very far fetched I must concede, but it's the only theory I have so far.
