We all know he often breaks the law and he’s far from a model human being.
After his last arrest in Vegas many people thought he should be cut from the UFC but let’s face it, remaining locked in his UFC contract and slowly being forgotten by fans with no way out is the biggest punishment he could receive.

I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Imagine if the standard for employer's was to fire employees over an arrest before conviction.

We'd have like a 15% daily turnover.

Fighters are released before a conviction most of the time, look at Louis Pena for the latest example.

Also, they’re contractors, not employees.

False

Being cut from the UFC isn't a gift.
Many fighters get cut prematurely.

I don’t think fighters should be cut for what legal trouble they get into outside of the octagon (other than sexual offenses). Many ufc fighters have arrests, jail records, and/or shady backgrounds that don’t get heavily publicized. Out of 10 cage fighters, how many do you expect to be hot head risk takers (I would expect half).
Cutting some fighters based on a moral compass is a slippery slope of perceived bias-ness.

now with regards to competition, yes I could understand if Jones faced action for PED test failures. But again, the UFC has a history of harsh penalties some fighters but not others when it comes to that stuff. That might be a commission thing though. Because of which people DO perceive them as bias in this regard (eg Barnett vs Jones vs Mendez vs Diaz vs others)

he's not exactly locked.
he is not fighting.
But the UFC has an obligation to offer him fights. he can take them and end his contract pretty fast if he fights every 3 months... but he is the one taking his time to move up...

I recon that if DC was still active, he would fight him fast at HW.
But with Francis gaining the belt and not Gane being hyped as the next big thing, him and his move to HW became not so important.... it is up to him though.
I would pick a fight against any HW (just to introduce him to the division) then he could demand some name fighter. but as it is, he is the one wasting time.

On the contraire

Ufc gives special treatment to jones by not disclosing his ped fails and covering up for him just to maintain his value high as supposed goat.

That's what I said. They can't let him go to a competitor, so the best thing is to let him languish and grow old until he's lost the last years of his career.

There was a rumour at one stage that Jon was serving a secret 2 year PED suspension.

I'm hoping punishment by a hard hitting heavyweight but that's an interesting way of looking at it, good point.
A hard hitting heavyweight AND tons of skill.. Otherwise Jon gets away for free again lol!

False.

Jones was whining about only getting paid $5 Million per fight, right? That's why he's been out of the sport for 18 months, so far.

Which fight org would meet or even surpass that payday? Bellator? Rizen?

Not saying it couldn't happen because Jon's profile could certainly increase with the undefeated LHW GOAT being a free agent.

True.

But if he ever chooses to fight at HW for 7 figures it’s hard to feel too sorry for his privileged ass.

How is that a punishment? As long as he is under contract they have to keep offering him fights. Whether he fights or not is up to him. It's not a punishment, it's the same as it ever was

They can easily offer him fights against fighters that do nothing for his career whether he wins or loses, they can also ensure he’s not in a slot that receives any PPV points.
The UFC can stall his career until he’s no longer a relevant name.

Why would they do that? Why wouldn't they keep trying to make the big money fights? This is Dana White we're talking about. He's not going to punish Jones out of some moral obligation.
