So, I'm having a problem with gaining weight. About six weeks ago, I weighed 165lbs at 5'8, but then I lost 8lbs since I was pretty much in a coma in my room for a week. Since then, I've been lifting heavy, I do the 5x5 in the S&P, while still grappling five nights a week plus boxing. I also started to run 4miles, usually 3-4 days a week. I'm now stronger than I was before I got sick, but the problem is that I still haven't gained any of that weight back. I thought just eating more would take care of that, so for each meal I usually eat 2-3 large plates of food, but no luck so far. Right now, I'm at 159.8lbs which annoys the hell out of me. I know that I didn't lost 8lbs of fat when I was sick for sure. Does anyone have any advice for me to help put some weight back on? Thanks

Stop running so much and if you need to keep the "cardio" up do some intervals.

Oh and the obvious answer:
EAT MORE

I'll cut back on the running and cardio a little bit. I'll try to eat more, but I'm eating a TON as it is. Last night, I literally ate a whole chicken plus rice, vegetables, and a salad. Also, I typically due 4 meals a day, I guess I should try to squeeze in a few more meals?

5 meals a day at least+shakes.

Go here ===> This is why you're fat.

If you wanna be big, you gotta eat big. Steak, pork chops, hamburger, fish, etc. Eat all that plus veggies with every meal and then some. One of the mods did an experiment a while back to see if he could eat as many calories in a day as Mike Phelps & ate something like 25 dbl cheeseburgers in one day. You can eat more.

Haha. Yeah, I've been to that website before. I usually just do shakes after working out or maybe training.
I'll start forcing myself to eat as much as possible. Is there a line I have to draw with what foods I eat? like really greasy foods, or do I just shovel everything down?

Will do, thanks for the advice guys. I'll start increasing my meals tommorow.

I put on weight really easily - which sucks cuz I have to watch what I eat; but in my experience, foods that pile on weight (at least for me) are burritos, chilli, bbq foods, and anything with a large amount of cheese and or bacon. Oh, and crap loads of milk.

Weight gain is directly related to calories in vs. calories out. That's it. If you aren't gaining weight you aren't eating enough, period. Count calories.

Most people who are trying to gain weight think they are eating a lot of food, but in fact they have only scratched the surface of what their body is capable of taking in and still being hungry.

I was stuck at 155 forever until I started to get really disciplined with my food. I started eating the same thing every single day, except for dinner, which would change. After a while my body would adapt to it and I would add another item of food at some point throughout the day. Some would call this boring, but I eat so much that over the course of a day I get a pretty good variety. Eventually over about 6 months it worked it's way up to an absurd amount of food in comparison to what it was before and I've packed on nearly 30 pounds.

I used to think I new what being hungry was, but now it's just stupid.

When I was working in GNC I had this skinny teenager come in with a major attitude, you know the type - "Wah, I can't gain weight", "none of this stuff works" etc; I ask him how much he's eating and he tells me he eats tons of food. I ask him how many meals and he says 2, fucker was skipping breakfast and then eating 2 meals a day and whinijng he couldn't gain weight.

Rob and I laughed so hard he got really offended.
