This is for general MMA training, so I wasn't sure where to put it.

I've been an athlete all my life, from football to soccer to track and have never felt inhibited in any way. I've always had great natural strength and, at my peak, could bench near 180% of my body weight.

However, in the past couple years, I've been plagued by lower lower back pain (like 4 inches above my ass) from just basic activities: anything that requires I bend down past a 135 degree angle. Before, I'd just get slightly sore from back exercises such as deadlifts and cleans.

So, always plagued by lower back pain for no apparent reason, I went to the doctor and found out that I have a slight curvature in the lower part of my spine which is causing my lower back pain.

Now, this is a pretty common condition and I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem. I want to continue training, but any kind of back exercise or grappling is very painful and its effects last for days.

Are you sure your lifitng technique was flawless? If not that may have beenthe issue.

No, it's a anatomical issue. I actually haven't been lifting at all lately because of school and other obligations. Hell, I havent dead lifted or power cleaned since November but my lower back flares up for no reason and really does when I perform hang cleans.

I have a lanky frame (5'9 145), so the disorder comes with the territory. I've let my bench slide from 250 to 195 this year but I can regain the loss with work....however, I can't regain my loss in back exercises because of the pain, let alone freestyle wrestle like I used to.

i have scoliosis and have found that deads and squats & oly lifts - strengthening the postural muscles - have helped my lower back pain tremendously.

Just a thought... Lamar grant's third attempt is usually about 4 inches lower than his first.. can you guess why?

yup. the S curve of his spine worsens under load. I don't know that this helps you in any way at all, but I worry that I won't have another chance to post about him before I forget who the fuck he is, and it seemed at least slightly relevant.

I have the same issue. My back musculature is less developed on the curved side, I also don't squat because I feel more load on one leg than another and unstable torso position in the bottom because of that.
I'm very worried about that, but I keep deadlifting, but I feel like I won't be able to overcome 2xBW barrier without injuries.
I don't know if that's treatable, but I will try to find a good Manual Therapist.

ive got the scoli as well but very acute. Regardless i feel it after a set of heavy pulls and its been caught on camera during super heavy rack pulls....i try to deload my spione as often as possible....its helping but direct corrective work is the only real way to fix it....not stretching alone.
