I just had my deviated septum fixed, last wedensday. I am not allowed to box, clearly, nor am I allowed to lift weights till next Friday. I feel myself getting fat and weak. What can I do to try and still workout. All i can think of is going for long walks, or walking stairs,

I would enjoy the rest, I don't think a week off will make too much difference to your strength levels, infact it may even give you a bit of a boost when you do hit the weights again. I can't see going for a long walk doing much to maintain your strength, pleasant as it may be.

Enjoy the rest. A week and a half of no training won't do shit. If you were over-training before, then you will be stronger when you start again. If not, any losses will be minimal, and you will regain what you lost within a couple of workouts.

Agree, what the fuck is 12 days of not training? Just sit back and relax. Maybe seek psychiatric help.

just try to eat less, since your are not burning many calories sitting around.... why not go running and work cardio if your so bored.

well now that you have two nostrils again why dont you do some cocaine? it will elevate your heart rate and you wont even have to get off the couch...plus it will surpress your appetite..its win win .....win

I had it done and I would not recommend you doing anything straining unless you want to pop a stitch and cause all sorts of problems.

It's called a deload. You should be regularly programming these.

Careful with the jerk. Don't want that nose to meet a barbell.

Also, like everyone said, 12 days off is nothing.

I don't think you'd put on much weight.

I had this done about 3 years ago and I think I ate like half a melon over a 3 day period, therefore wasn't eating enough to get fat. I had to wait till my first check-up (Not to get the gauze a few days later or the splint thing taken off but the first actual checkup) before I could start lifting again, but than she said everything should be ok and to just watch if you start to get a little dizzy.

I think after 3 weeks I was back to normal lifting and Muay thai (not sparring pretty sure thats at least 6 weeks before you can go back to it)

A good doc should know all of the info and let ya know when you're perfectly healthy, till then, like other said, just relax, because for a few weeks you may feel fine and then have a healing pain just crack through your forehead

I don't know about a nose job, but after I had my deviated septum fixed, I waited two weeks. I resumed normal lifting ,running, swimming, etc...I was doing just fine.

Do like Wanderlei and breathe through a snorkel:) I'm kidding. Take some time off, your body will thank you for it and when you return to lifting, you're going to see major improvements, believe me.

Is your nose weaker, as in will you get it broke boxing?

This is something i actually wish I asked my doctor but never did. The bridge of my nose actually now feels like two pieces of bone coming together at an angle, with a little space in the middle. Like I said I have cracked myself a few times and nothing has gone wrong, but I haven't taken a good punch to it to know if it would break easier, since it doesn't seem like a heal to say a broken shin, where they say the break heals stronger than it was before.
