Hapkido (RP: /ˌhæpkiːˈdoʊ/,[1] US /hɑːpˈkiːdoʊ/,[2] also spelled hap ki do or hapki-do; Korean: 합기도, Korean pronunciation: [hap̚.k͈i.do]) is a highly eclectic Korean martial art. It is a form of self-defense that employs joint locks, grappling, and throwing techniques similar to those of other martial arts, as well as kicks, punches, and other striking attacks. It also teaches the use of traditional weapons, including knife, sword, rope, ssang juhl bong (nunchaku), cane (ji pang ee), short stick (dan bong), and middle-length staff (joong bong, gun (analogous to the Japanese jō), and bō (Japanese)), which vary in emphasis depending on the particular tradition examined. Hapkido employs both long-range and close-range fighting techniques, utilizing jumping kicks and percussive hand strikes at longer ranges, and pressure point strikes, joint locks, and throws at closer fighting distances. Hapkido emphasizes circular motion, redirection of force, and control of the opponent. Practitioners seek to gain advantage over their opponents through footwork and body positioning to incorporate the use of leverage, avoiding the use of brute strength against brute strength. The art was adapted from Daitō-ryū Aiki-jūjutsu as it was taught by Choi Yong-Sool (최용술) when he returned to Korea after World War II after having lived in Japan for 30 years. This system was later combined by Choi´s disciples with kicking and striking techniques of indigenous and contemporary arts such as taekkyeon, and Tang Soo Do; as well as various throwing techniques and ground fighting from Japanese Judo.

REMARK: IN THIS VIDEO IT ALSO HAS CUTS FROM JUJIUTSU, JUJUTSU AND MORE. Jiu Jitsu [dʑɯː.dʑɯ.tsɯ] (jap.

Wing Chun 's Uppercut - the Chu Shong Tin method (Concept and Philosophy)

Mindful Wing Chun

Published on Oct 28, 2018

Learn the entire CST Wing Chun method Online: https://www.mindfulwingchun.online This movement is from Wing Chun's 2nd empty hand form (Chum Kiu). it is often misunderstood as people simply use a muscular alignment to drive the uppercut up. Actually the correct use of this movement makes it a very versatile movement that can be used to crush through the opponent's guard while striking through! Master Chu Shong Tin used this movement against 'the black mountain' who was 3 times his size and was the national weightlifting champion of Holland at the time. *A note about this channel the lineage: Sifu Nima King is the owner and team leader of Mindful Wing Chun, a CST Wing Chun school in Hong Kong with affiliations around the world. Mindful Wing Chun is wholeheartedly dedicated to passing on the internal wing chun method as passed down by Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin who was the longest serving student of Grandmaster Ip Man. Chu Shong Tin lived with Ip Man for 5 years (1950-1955) and was coined the title ' the king of siu nim tao' by his master Ip Man. He was a legend in the world of Wing Chun (in particular the internal method of wing chun) and spent 64years passing it on full-time before he passed away in 2014. Nima King practiced under him in Hong Kong for 9 years and established Mindful Wing Chun under CST's guidance. Nima is also on the board of Directors for the 'Chu Shong Tin Alumni' which is a group of senior students of CST that were hand picked by him to establish the Alumni and to uphold and continue his teachings and Wing Chun legacy after he passed away. Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin was a very humble and low-key Wing Chun Master therefore its only after we began putting his videos online, that people started to hear about him. In fact, majority of the main Wing CHun teachers (of the Ip Man lineage) who began practice in the 50s and early 60s (apart of Leung Sheung and Lok Yiu) were trained by CST even-though they were Ip Man's students. This is due to CST being the most snr and main teacher of Ip Man's school in those days. Nima was lucky to start his practice under CST in 2005 because that's when CST decided to change his teaching to all internal practice so that he can pass on "Nim Tao' and 'Nim Lik' (the mind power/energy cultivated through internal Wing Chun practice) to his students. Nima, even though a non-chinese and much younger than the other students of CST, attained a high level of these final teachings. He now mainly teaches the seniors within this lineage and also travels around giving workshops and is working on an online program so that master CST's teaching can have a greater reach. You may contact Nima/Mindful Wing Chun through: website: https://www.mindfulwingchun.com.hk facebook : https://www.facebook.com/sifunimaking/ facebook2: https://www.facebook.com/mindfulwingc...
