Currently I am preparing for my first tournament. In our class we spar seven minute rounds. However being a white belt I will only compete in four minute rounds. How close to the tournament do I switch from rolling seven minutes to four minutes? Out of ten or so guys competing from our gym, there are only three white belts. Thanks!
 
Keep doing the long rounds. In a tournament, especially your first cardio will be a problem. With the adrenaline you will be breathing faster and you'll be using a 5th gear. You might even want to have a fresh partners rotate in every two minutes to simulate going beyond the exhaustion point.
