The Canadian billionaire couple found dead at their home in Toronto last month were murdered in a targeted killing, police say.

The bodies of Barry, 75, and Honey Sherman, 70, were found on 15 December.

Police said on Friday no-one had been charged, and declined to comment on any suspects.

Just saw this on the BBC news. There was a thread on this last year but it devolved into a shitstorm and was put in the dump. There have been updates to that thread but it's not easy to find so I posted this thread.

In December it was reported as a possible murder - suicide and the debate started.

Now it seems police were not giving any theories other than suspicious deaths but have finally classified it as murder.

This GILLIGAN'S ISLAND reboot is starting off dark.

Targeted means there will be an obvious motive and thus easy suspect lists. But if somebody hired professionals, it means they have money as well and probably smart to cover their tracks.

Given it was botched by the cops to see murder-suicide, and only changed because the family hired their own PI's - basically retired homicide detectives and private forensics firms - it means no forced entry and no ransacking or theft. So it means whatever the murderer wanted wasn't in the house. And it's likely not a personal revenge issue because of the way they were murdered - no overt violence other than the strangulation - weren't beaten, raped etc. If this family wronged you and destroyed your life in some major way you'd want to make them hurt before killing them. So the motive is monetary in some way or another.

Also you have to look into where the money goes in the Will - because who gets what shows potential motive as well.

Given the bodies were not otherwise harmed and where left dead together it does lead one to believe it could be somebody known to the couple. Leaving the bodies together is a subconscious sign you cared for them - yes even if you killed them. No forced entry either means they let their killers into the House, and then not putting up a life or death fight means you believed up until the moment you died that the attacker(s) weren't going to kill you - something more likely if you knew them.

Yeah Ive been following the story. It's pretty crazy.

Might be a relative. I've always thought the rich should be more careful, even the closest people to you might be jealous or harbor petty resentments.

It could be they were killed because his company was selling drugs cheaper than other companies.

If it was professionals, the bodies were most likely left together in order to sell the Murder/Suicide or Suicide Pact scenarios, rather than any affection for the victims.

As for the lack defensive wounds etc, it's possible they were drugged or otherwise incapacitated before being killed. The cops fucked up the beginning of the investigation, so who knows how much forensic evidence was lost.

No offense but you sound poor. Resource acquisition and one's morality has nothing to do with one another. A person can be shitty at making money and still a total asshole or someone like Bill Gates, an amazing philanthropist and tycoon at the same time. To say that they are shitty people even when they were murdered is a fucked up thing to say.

Absolutely it does. Go read about the psychology of rich people, more importantly billionaires.

For the record I am not poor. I’m a single union tradesman with an income double the average Americans.

Stating my opinion about the acquisition of wealth of a billionaire and questioning their ethics when they own one of the most unethical business on planet earth isn’t a sign of being poor..but ok

By rich I do not mean you’re well off. I mean you’re part of the 1% or close to it.

So you are a poor lying douchebag

Lying about what. I’m a union sprinkler fitter in Chicago. Go look up local 281 foreman wage and do the math if you can.

Just a common trait with poor people. Oh a union worker in Chicago you truly are some special kind of shit stain

Please explain. You’re probabaly some private sector nut gobbling loser making 40 grand a year being a slave, thinking about that school debt he’s still paying off, meanwhile
Still praising big business like it’s something special.

No doubt they found a cure for cancer and were murdered.

Gotta send a message. Even if you’re a billionaire, cancer has to remain un curable.

a pro contract killer could have made it to look like a murder suicide imo

If the police admit it was a murder that rules out Hillary. I'm back to square one
