The UFC already does random drug testing, right? Just have them bring a scale during those tests. If a fighter weighs more than a certain percentage over their weight class, they’re required to move up.
It’s a simple way to push fighters to compete closer to their natural weight, instead of having them lose massive amounts of weight just to fight smaller opponents.
I mean look at Paddy Pimblett. You’re really gonna say because he’s eating like a pig that he has to move up?
The whole issue is what they weigh on fight night vs the cut. Why not just do same day fight weights and not allow them to cut more than a percentage? It cuts out a ton of crap and pointless restriction. As a former athlete, I’m going to enjoy my offseason and not spend it glued to a scale.
