Top Ten was the official headgear of the 1992, 1996, and 2000 Olympic, then Adidas to over.

Are these changes purely political and financial or does the new Adidas line match Top Ten?

I've never used the addidas headgear, but I have the top ten with the cheek protectors. I consider it the next best thing to no headgear. It offers next to **** all protection, but it doesn't block your vision does't move etc. I can see why it was used for the olympics, but addidas has alot more cash to throw at them

it's all about Cash addidas just bid higher to be the olympic sponsor for boxing etc. it's great marketing but not cheap marketing.

Yeah, I agree its purely bidding.

I used the Adidas open face headgear my coach owns when I was preparing for my ammy fight and I can honestly say it was crap. The foam was thinner than my Twins and would move all over the place when it got hit or when I moved too much. And no- I have secured it the as tight as possible beforehand.

Is this the one you're referring to?

Interesting that it moves so much on you. I use this headgear pretty regularly, it hardly moves at all on me, guess everyone's head shape is different. I have a handful of headgear, this and the fg-2900 get the most use. It has less protection than training headgear, but it's super light, great visibility, and the amara lining is pretty awesome.

^ Yep. That's the one I am talking about. Maybe it is because my head shape is kind of shaped differently to yours but so far I am using:

and its pretty good.

Btw, Adidas also does a lot of AIBA gear for ammy competitions.

Yeah headgear seems to always be hit or miss. I think it's tough to get one that fits right. Probably the hardest piece of equipment to buy, especially online, where you don't get to try it out first.

Adidas has some surprisingly good equipment, their pro range is a lot better than people give it credit for.

I've been using some of their top of the line gloves and focus mitts (the air version in black and gold) and they are top notch.

Like Everlast though, if you buy the cheap "sporting goods store" line of gear you'll be buying inferior gear.

Adidas has had a long association with the Olympics though and more than likely there's a monetary element in play as well.
