I believe these are never before seen techniques. If you have seen these before please tell me.

Enjoy!!!

P.S. both people have inverted heelhooks if your not playing by IBJJF rules.

Just happened across this on YouTube actually. Really cool stuff. Will be looking for 50/50 just to try these out.

Awesome, can't wait to try it! I end up in 50/50 sometimes but not enough to get used to it, and most of the stuff I've seen (Little Tony, Ryan Hall) is a bit hard for me to remember or put it into action.

Thanks a million for dropping knowledge bombs.

Really nice. I like how unlike most 50/50 techniques, you're not staying in the 50/50 but gaining a positional advantage right away.

Awesome vids, really like that third one!

I know it's not but I'm scared to do this cause it might look like a knee reap

This is great stuff Sean and definitely not something I have seen before.

Thanks for sharing!

So it looks like he's setting up a reap for about a quarter second, but the pressure is visibly towards the hip and to the outside. The only danger is when the outside hook goes in, but as long as the foot crosses below the knee it isn't a reap.

Sean, these are awesome. Thanks.

Interesting position. To what extent could you use that hook to protect yourself from the heel hook in no gi, if any? Maybe by pressuring his knee outward (opposite direction of the heel hook finish) and extracting your knee from the entanglement? Or is this position 'IBJJF only'?

I use the X-guard/DLR style hook quite a lot from 50/50, which accomplishes much of the same as this butterfly style hook, but coming from underneath instead of over the opponent's leg. I'll have to play around and see what the different advantages are.

Just to give you a heads up... you've posted a 'top secret' technique on an internet forum, you nincompoop!

Interesting stuff you're doing with getting that leg inside. I'll have to play around with it. The last one I haven't seen, but I've seen the position before. I feel like that's where Rafael Mendes and Tanquinho ended up in their match in the finals at the last Mundials. I could be wrong.

Sean, have you or anyone you know actually used these moves in rolling or better yet in competition? Not doubting you at all, just curious.

I've been playing with that toehold a lot the last 2 months. Barata showed it to me but haven't seen it anywhere else. It's a super effective trap, my biggest challenge has been getting the space to put that foot in but once there I have a high finishing rate

No-gi if you were to cross the inside leg over, you might as well hit the inside leg triangle and completely protect both of your legs.

Some of my teammates and I have been hitting them in training quite a bit.

Sure, but throwing the outside leg over doesn't automatically protect your inside foot, so you'd have to hide that as well.

Yeah you put the overlacing leg of the triangle either in the crack of his ass or butterflied against his hamstring.
