Top Muay Thai Trainers in the US

every trainer has their strengths and weaknesses. I go to the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy, Greg Nelson is head instructor. He is one of the earlier TBA instructors, if i remember correctly. The man is awesome, and so are the other instructors. That being said, since that's the only pace I train, I won't comment on comparative ability, just go where you think suits you the best.

Some of the more respected trainers in the US:

Rob Kaman
Duke Roufus- Milwaukee
Colin Oyama of Team Oyama (No Limits MMA) Irvine,CA
Ganyao "Dr. Knee" Fairtex Fairtex Gym CA
Kru Phill Nurse
Walter "Sleeper" Michalowski Sityodtong - L.A. ,CA
Mark Dellagrote Sityodtong - Boston
Kru Seaksan Janjira - Texas
Sakasem Kanthawong - Utah
Ajarn Chai Sirisute
Master Toddy, Las Vegas , NV- Even though he is a controversial subject he has produced a fair amount of champions & good fighters , ,
Shawn Tompkins, Xtreme Couture, L.V.,NV
Michael Winkeljohn, Jackson Submission Fighting , New Mexico
Greg Nelson , Minnesota Martial Arts

There are many other great trainers the US but these are the more notable ones.

I don't mean to derail the thread, but the instructor at the place I'm looking at, this is from his bio page... Anyone hear of him or know anything about this? I only bring it up because I see mentioned that he trained under one of the folks already listed.

Khun Kru Jeremy Wijers, the head instructor at Portland Thai Boxing, brings nearly 20 years of experience and dedication to our program. He was privileged to train under the legendary Ajarn "Chai" Sirisute, founder of Thai Boxing Association of the U.S.A., the first and most established Muay Thai organization in the United States. Khun Kru Wijers is one of only fifteen people nationwide to hold the rank of full instructor in the Thai Boxing Association.

Impossible to say who is THE best

but you can add Malaipet to the list.

Master Toddy durrrrrrrrrrr haven't you seen fight girls.

But seriously, I learn a style from a instructor who was taught by Master Instructor Arjarn Chai Profile of Ajarn Chai Sirisute | www.thaiboxing.com

I find this style integrates very well into mma.

Er, I know it's popular to denigrate Master Toddy on here but .... he's produced some champions.

Can Ajarn Chai say the same?

The answer is "no".

The answer is "no".

Did Toddy produce them or did he bring trainers from Thailand to produce them?

BTW, What Chai teaches looks nothing like the Muay Thai I learn in Thailand.

Bump for verification

did toddy form his own org then have his fighter win the titles, just asking.
because in his clips his ego is huge, and I want to also know what he is a master in.
because to call yourself that, a self titled master is ridiculous

Jeremy is a great instructor. He has also fought in Thailand I believe. Anyway, yes he is very good, he's been doing MT for like 25 years. He trains a lot of local fighters (PAC NW) and past Ufc fighters too.

I've heard this as well, at Kit Cope is the evidence.

Sakmongkol is also teaching in Colorado now.

Like Master Toddy or not, he did produce the best American Nakmuay Kevin Ross.
