    Im looking for top five most effective ma. list and reasons why

    For self defense or competiting in MMA?

    If its for self defense, then...

    BJJ (most fights will hit the ground, and this was specifically designed for the street)
    Boxing (sprawl and brawl and your hands are better than a regular Muay Thai guy)
    Wrestling (won't get taken down and if you get on top, its real easy to GnP)
    Muay Thai (knees are effective in close quarters along with punches and elbows)
    Sambo (its a good mix of ground, throws, and a little standup)

    for self defense definatley a good Karate school that train not only sport karate.you will learn a bunch of dirty tequniques and pressure point shots.you will train for the streets and not for the ring.dont listen to the people here.
