Mine are

Donnie Darko

Mind-bending genre-buster. It has comedy, drama, sci-fi and horror elements to it. The story itself is rather confusing at first, and you have to pay close attention to it, but you'll be thankful for having done so. Features Jake Gyllenhaal and Patrick Swayze, and features cameos from Jerry Trainor and Seth Rogan, among others.

Mad Max: Fury Road

The most insane movie I've ever seen. The Mad Max world is done beautifully in this one, with some very creative and memorable characters. The story isn't too complicated, but the execution is brilliant. Non-stop high-octane thrills. Perfect popcorn movie.

Southpaw

Just saw this this past Wednesday. Great film about a troubled boxer, portrayed beautifully by Jake Gyllenhaal. Wonderful performances from all involved, good story, and exciting action. Would really recommend this movie to a fight-fan.

Slingblade

The story of a mentally-impaired man named Karl Childers, (portrayed by Billy-Bob Thornton), who befriends a child and his mother, who is involved with a drunk man that abuses them both. Really solid acting and story, with a very convincing portrayal from BBT. A classic, in the eyes of many.

Shawshank Redemption

Everyone has seen this classic, so I don't need to explain, a lot. Just a classic. If you've yet to see it, you're missing out.

This was difficult, seeing as I like so many movies. These, however, are movies that I could watch every day without complaint. What are yours?

Aliens
Braveheart
Episode IV
Episode V
Jaws
The Pledge
Robocop
Rocky
Rocky II
Se7en

I can only tell you that Terminator II is my favourite movie of all time! Would have to think about #2 slot and so on.

You really can't go wrong with Sammo. Well, he's been a bit patchy in the last decade or so, but that's understandable given his age. Can't keep up the same pace when you're approaching your pension.

My favourite Sammo films (no particular order, director and starring roles both included):

The Victim
Magnificent Butcher
Iron-Fisted Monk
Prodigal Son
Enter the Fat Dragon
Warriors Two
Wheels on Meals
Dragons Forever
Project A
Blade of Fury
Moon Warriors
Odd Couple

He did some cracking work as a choreographer before he broke out as a star in his own right too. Some after too:

Come Drink With Me
Shaolin Plot
Lady Whirlwind
Hapkido
When Taekwondo Strikes
The Tournament
Hand of Death
The Fate of Lee Khan
The Himalayan
Ip Man
Ashes of Time

He was a disappointment in Sha Po Lang.

Ran
Aguirre
Naked
Solaris
Hana-Bi

I liked the original Scream, though, I thought it fell off in the later sequels. ANOES is a horror-classic, good shit.

Tough one. I can name my top two for definite:

The Third Man
The Princess Bride

I'll probably go for Topsy-Turvy after that, but I get stuck for four and five. Far too many candidates, so it changes every time I think about it. For now I'll settle for The Long Good Friday and Drive (the Mark Dacascos one).

Ah, fuck. I need to fit Soldier of Orange in too.

Funny . . . I watched Princess Bride recently again, and wow, yeah, that is one of the best romances ever. Plus it's action-packed and funny. But the relationship between the servant-boy and the princess is really awesome IMO. Definitely almost top 5 worthy for me.

My girlfriend bemoans that she can never evoke the emotive joy that appears on my face when the coach breaks jake in half on the practice field.
That is a 10/10 film

I literally forgot about this movie. I need to rewatch it lol.

Ask me again next week and it'll probably be different but I'm going to go with

Children of Men
Cool Runnings (it's my ultimate feel good nostalgia film)
Empire Strikes Back
Full Metal Jacket
Pulp Fiction

Terminator 2
Aliens
Spider-man (2002)
The Dark Knight
Saving Private Ryan
Really liked all the Alien movies, as well as the Terminator films (Even Genisys, because Emilia Clarke). I always SPR whenever it's on TV. Great action flick.

Groundhog day
American Psycho
Cinema Paradiso
y tu mama tambien

There's a ton more older favourites, I'll chuck in Ex Machina for something newer.

No particular order:

Blackhawk Down
We were Soldiers
Shawshank Redemption
I am Legend
Watchmen

This is suuuper tough to boil it down to top 5. I'll try.

Drive

This Is The End

The Ring

Grosse Pointe Blank

Secret Window

honorable mentions because I can't help it (and they're pretty much interchangeable): Saving Private Ryan, Frailty, Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken, Zoolander, Tenacious D and The Pick of Destiny, Dumb and Dumber, The Princess Bride, The Next Three Days, Breakdown, Bridesmaids

1. Tax Driver
2. TGTBATU
3. Mad Max 2 aka The Road Warrior

Those are my definitive top 3 but after that I can't really put the rest of my favourites in strict order as it's too close to call most of them, here's some of the top contenders though...

Aliens, Chopper, The Wanderers, T2, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, Cool Hand Luke, Goodfellas, The Thing, King Of Comedy, I Saw The Devil, Once Upon A Time In The West, The Keep, Ringu, Samsara, Baraka, Dredd, The Crow, Leon, Predator, Cape Fear (Scorsese remake), Platoon, A Bittersweet Life, Ghost Dog.
