I can see Soccer being #1 but Football being #10? What is this based off of?
What a bunch of Bullshit. You couldn't fill a 10k arena to watch volleyball anywhere in the world.
They forgot to poll boxing. I guess they didn't want to push soccer to #2.
There's only one country in the world were American Football is even vaguely popular.
I didn't say it should be number 1 but its definitely above Baseball, Basketball, Volleyball and Tennis ect.
You include NCAA & NFL you can have, on average, 80k people in each stadium across the board. You can't do that in any of those other sports. Thats not including TV as well.
It's possible that there's enough countries that can fill up 5k venues for volleyball that it bests NFL. I don't know, I'm surprised rugby, boxing and ice hockey aren't on the list.
You realise there's a whole other planet out there, with other countries and everything... right? :icon_chee
American Football is INSANELY popular in the United States. And nowhere else. In every other country on the planet, a small minority of people follow it. But, it's cracked the top 10 most popular sports globally, just because of how popular it is in America, which is impressive.
But globally more people play/follow Tennis, Cricket, Basketball etc.
Cricket, for example. You may scoff, because it's virtually non-existent in America. However, it's played in many, many countries. All through Britain, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa. Oh, and of course, the big one... India.
India is a country of over a billion people and to them, Cricket is like the NBA, NFL and MLB all rolled in to one. There's probably more cricket fans in India alone than there are people in the United States. A lot more.
Not sure how popular volleyball is but they do play it all over the world.
Tennis is pretty popular, there is pretty international tournament for men and women somewhere in the world with foreign players from all corners of the world on almost everyday of the year. Then you got endless amount of domestic tournaments filled with players from that country on regular basis.
Living in Bulgaria for 3 years, I can tell you it is really popular here- probably second only to Football.............I was surprised as in England it is a minority sport, and I mainly thought of it as a female sport.
How anyone can think American Football is bigger than Tennis globally, is shocking. Tennis is one of the true global sports.
Personally I have played all those top 10 sports before, with the exception of American Football and Baseball.
Not true. I have been to Super Bowl parties in Canada more than once.
Having a party for a very big match once a year does not make a huge sport. Do a LOT of people watch it during the season or play in teams themselves? More likely they play and watch hockey tbh.
Canada has it's own football league. Second most popular sport after hockey.
Distant second obviously.
Ice Hockey should also be on that list.
3. Field Hockey
Lmao @ the top 3 "sports"
lol at the field hockey
Youre being generous here.
What about some form of Wrestling?
And is field hockey really that huge? Why don't they let them use a longer hockey stick instead of those clubs? That way they don't have to bend over so much, and can actually do some real stick handling.
Field Hockey? Interdasting.
who is playing field hockey?
cricket is exploding in TO. I simply do not understand the game, though I think I want to.
