Top 10 Happiest Countries in the World - 2014

You ever been to Latin America? Seems like the roles are reversed.

Only tourist spots. Had little interaction with couples. Didn't know that was the dynamic between men and women. Odd.

I'd like to move to either Belize or Costa Rica one day , beautiful countries and obviously

Very happy places

All those shithole cesspit countries

Bullshit, nobody is happy in El youwillbemurderedorrapedbeforeyoucanevensayit salvador

Murderers and rapists don't count in these happiness polls? They're having a blast in El Salvador

lol Murricans ITT outraged that the U.S. is not on the list.

As if happiness is a concept reserved only for the well off.

And were likely murdered themselves after participating in the poll

America is one of the most depressed, angry countries. We're not upset these shitholes are getting consolation prizes, we're upset that we have to pretend we want to go to these places for more than 5 days on a cruise.

Quick question: if these places are so fucking amazing, why is it that where I live is "The Most Depressed City in America", yet teeming with fucking "AL SALBDOR"ians?
I work with a guy from Venuzuela. He got shot in college just walking to the library. "Oh but it's still great there" he says.

These citizens aren't happy, they're in denial and literally begging for a new wave of occupation. Savages.

Denmark was #1 for 3 consecutive years, now we're not even in the top 10. I guess not qualifying for the world cup in Brazil hit harder than I thought.

Edit: aha, this is not the same group who does the usual happiness index.

The formula used to calculate the Happy Planet Index can be found here:

http://www.happyplanetindex.org/img/equation.gif

They ask people if they are happy, and based on the poll they come up with some number for experienced well being. They take this number and multiplies it with the life expectancy. This all makes sense.

THEN they divide it with the ecological footprint. AFAIK the ecological footprint is a measure of how much is consumed in the country. So if you drive cars and use a lot of energy you get a high ecological footprint. Obviously this means that countries like the US gets a shitty rating, because they have a big ecological footprint.

Heck you can even easily see it on the map found on http://www.happyplanetindex.org/data/

If you in the menu called "Colour by" pick experienced well being all the european and north american countries have good values. But if you pick ecological footprint they have crappy values.

Heard you will die if you get sent to Belize
