No Pe De Pano, yet Eddie bravo?, and marcelo definatley but so high, geesh...i argue with small things like order and whatever but bomans list is definatley solid, give one or two personal preferences.

- Bravo on the list because of him being the first American to tap a Gracie, and for his innovative outlook on JJ and his ideas will change the game in the future.

- Marcelo is high on the list because he's won the absolute in ADCC ... therefore Royler and some of the other greats are below him ranking wise in my book.

why oh why does bravo get so much credit? i dont get it. i personally like the guy, but whats with such nuthugging all the time? please name his students that have 'changed the game' with tournament wins or even fight wins? or name his accomplishments since tapping royler? at least with the gracies, they get into the ring... bravo, never once.

as far as top ten lists.. oh man, theyre so biased. for one, the gracies say rolls, but who outside the gracies can confirm that? two, the oldtimers have never fought the level of fighters we have today. so not to be biased myself, but frankly the fighters of today will be the top 10 grapplers of all time.

and rickson? well filho trained exclusively with rickson in the past year, and he confirmed i think directly 'i have never been manhandled the way rickson did to me.' unreal.

oh well my 2cents. sorry i didnt do a list.

the term "grapplers" is so vague.. you need to divide it in to different styles. Saying "grapplers" is like saying "strikers".

As far as nogi. I'd put Roger right at the top, dominating the field he did, at the level we're at now with some many people inventing new stuff and improvisation he deserve a higher placing.

my top 10 in no order: roger, eddie bravo, royler, jj machado, marcello, jacare, saulo, baret (just cause i like the way he starts his grappling matches), saulo, insert winner of 2006 absolute here.

thats going on my personal top 10, not winners losers, but people who have influenced grappling nogi/and crossover to uses in MMA. this is a MMA forum afterall.

- Fabio Santos a Rolls Gracie student said that back in the day, that they would drive sometimes 4 hours to see Rolls compete.... and the match would be over in like 20 seconds.

- I've seen Rickson man handle a 380 lb. man at one of his seminars... swept him over his head like it was nothing... that f@cker flew.. so my own eyes confirmed that one.

I try to follow grappling as closely as MMA, but its damn hard as there is pretty much zero exposure- which is probably a good thing, ut it just means I am not the expert on the world scene as I would wish to be. Anyway, does this look anything at all like it should;

Present top 10

1. Roger Gracie*
2. Jacare*
3. Braulio Estima
4. Xande Ribeiro
5. Marcelo Garcia
6. Fabricio Werdum*
7. BJ Penn*
8. Jeff Monson*
9. Pe De Pano*
10. Shaolin*

*Unsure as to whether these guys intend to compete in any tournaments for a while as their attention has turned predominantly to MMA.

Kimura - no one before kimura, no one after.
Rickson
Kraelin (the Russian Greco guy).
Marcelo Garcia
BJ Penn
Saulo Ribero
Roger Gracie
Rolls Gracie
Jacare
Dan Gable

I like that you put BJ Penn on your list... I should've put him on mine. Nice list though !!

marcelo beat xande. (not 100% sure)

EDIT: oops hehe. just remembered the fight i was thinking of. it wasnt marcelo. sorry guys i havent slept in 30hrs.

Aoki's good, but he hasn't done a whole lot on the world scene, though I havent looked at his world scene BJJ stuff, only nogi. He'd of had a better chance to test himself if he hadn't gotten matched up against two of the best at ADCC poor guy.
