I've been sick as hell lately so I haven't been able to go to the gym the last week. I was still feeling pretty shitty last night but said fuck it i'm going anyways. I took 4 extra strength Dayquil before I went in and I felt like shit in the change room, I was feeling really drowzee and was asking myself why I was doing this and I should just go home to bed. I started lifting weights and the weights felt weightless it was crazy. Then the really weird thing I started doing cardio on the treadmill and I was just not getting tired. I put it on speed 8 at at 4 incline and jogged for 25 mins (which probably doesn't sound like much to a Kenyan but to me it was a quick pace) it was basically a slow sprint for 25 mins on a bit of an incline. I was sweating and everything but my heart didnt even feel like it picked up and I wasn't breathing heavy at all and I was not tired at all after 25 mins it felt like I could have kept going easily. Do you guys think it was cause of the cold medicine I did not get tired?

You're on PEDs. Reported to USADA.

Serious answer:

"Severe Cold" DayQuil contains Acetaminophen / Paracetamol, which is a common painkiller, as well as Dextromethorphan which has sedative, dissociative, and stimulant properties. Other stuff it contains is for cough relief and respiratory issues.

All of the above can definitely improve your performance. Does this mean you should pop a pill before every gym session? Here's a few opinions:

TL/DR: Taking painkillers before training is dangerous and generally a bad idea. If you feel too sick to train then just DON'T.

Sometimes you forget what it's like to feel good when you've been sick for so long. You probably had a lot of motivation and drive. I'm sure the chemicals helped, but it can't be by much.

Day quill is legal meth. It is definitely because of Dayquil. I've done both. Meth is a good time. I highly recommend people try it to enhance a good time.

Meth is cheaper and lasts longer.

Oh and if you're interested if pro athletes use painkillers and NSAIDs - yes they do BUT there are risks associated with that as well.

Here'a a huge medical publication if you've got the time:
https://www.researchgate.net/public...f_NSAIDs_by_Athletes_A_RiskBenefit_Assessment

TL/DR (cited from the Summary):
"Based on the available evidence, the potential risks associated with prophylactic and frequent NSAID use appear to outweigh any possible benefits."

When I was saving for a house I was living with my parents for a year and I'd been for a night out at cheap bar.

I was pretty hammered and missed the last bus and my parents lived about 12 miles out of the city.

So I decided to run back in a pair of boots, did it in just over 2 hours and felt decent during it, was pretty achey the next day though.

I know they banned sudafed in the NHL for this exact reason. My guess is DayQuil is also banned.

LOL football players spend their entire careers playing and many times even practicing while on seriously strong pain killers.

Not saying it's good for you, I just think it's funny what people do for money.

Man thats crazy, I take Ibuprofen for everything, if I cant sleep Ill take a couple and it does not seem to put me to sleep but once I am asleep i feel comatose, I wake up feeling like I had the best sleep ive ever had...I didn't realize it had negative side effects especially with regards to the stomach, no wonder I have mudbutt all the time.

They also have access to outstanding medical support professionals who monitor their health and chose the perfect combination of diet, drugs and physical therapy... and they still get injured all the time.

Us "normal people" can't afford this kind of risk IMHO.

Acetaminophen is horrible for your liver, you can die if you take too much. I hate when people say to take to Tylenol then sleep to prevent a hangover, that shit can be deadly. Ibuprofen is bad for your stomach. I take painkillers when I need them, not to help me sleep.
