He's ranked above Dustin and Conrat, both beat him, unless he fight Hooker or Felder he isnt winning his next fight.
Sucks for Tony to find out after all this time that the loss to Jhonson wasnt due to the broken arm but due to his piss poor fundementals that get exposed by powerfull punchers with good fundementals. He's too deep in the game to change up his style at this point.
Top 5 not a top 3 fighter.

Tony vs Conor so he can get enough $$ to retire comfortably.

The only way it's over for Tony is if the damage he sustained renders him unable to take a punch. If he can recover well, he still presents problems for everyone else in the division.

Everyone counted him out when he lost to MJ....and 12 wins and Interim championship later look what happened.

JG was the better man, doesn’t mean Tony is done.

to all the doubters
tony is staying for much longer than u might assume

Any good boxer with power beats him
Funny how the guy went 12-0 in so many years and now he sucks.

Gaethje fought a perfect fight. Tony cutted stupidily 2 times in 3 weeks. He's been in camp since november drilling 90% grappling. He overtrained for sure.

Let's just wait and see how he looks in his next fight before we all jump to conclusion saying he's done.

He fought zero boxers with power during his streak

He didn't lose to MJ because of a broken arm, he lost because it was a bad stylistic matchup for him.

Would he get get that much if any of a bump in his contract should he get to fight Conor? Would have made more sense for him to fight Conor whilst an interim champ as he would have got PPV points. Now I don't think he's got much of a shot at all of getting a money fight with Conor as he's no longer in the way of McGregor getting a title shot and there's no evidence to suggest he's a ppv draw. Any hypothetical matchup screams of high risk low reward for McGregor. If McGregor does fight at 155 next the only two possibilities are Gaethje or Khabib imo. If it's at 170 you could throw Masvidal and Nate into the mix.

How are you going to use a result that just happened to explain why somebody lost a different fight that happened 8 years ago?

Well Gaethje is a wrestler with boxing not a boxer. It's a lot harder to just box in mma if you can be taken down at will. Also a boxer would have to be able to sit down on his punch and be willing to take a punch to give a punch and be able to stand up to that. Tony landed some damn good shots on Gaethje and the uppercut he landed on him had Gaethje in trouble if not for the bell.

Gaethje is a great boxer by MMA standards, his wrestling background has nothing to do with that.

MJ and Gaethje both have fast, powerful hands with good footwork; Tony has fought no one else like that in his 12 fight win streak. He was dropped by guys like Pettis and Vannata who are extremely flawed strikers without much KO power.

Tony needs to flatten the curve and retire quietly

I really dont get this type of matter of fact threads about things that cant be predicted...if theres one thing about fighting thats for certain is anything can happen...

Tony is a top 3 lightweight and is likely 1 to 2 wins away from another shot at the title...especially if gaithje beats khabib...conor quits alot and Dustin can be outsmarted in the ring.. Nothing is over till its over

Extremely flawed strikers??

Pettis koed Thompson ..probably the most technical striker ever ...you dont do that by being an extremely flawed striker lol

Vannatta is A JBG follower hes not responsible for what his fights become

Sherdog is funny sometimes..as soon as someone loses there whole career is treated like it was a waste cuz they lost there last fight lmfao ....

Thompson isn't even close to being the most technical striker ever lmao

Vannata is a journeyman that's lucky to still be in the UFC

Tony challenged Conor when he was interim champ.
Called him "McNuggets", a POS, a mother fucker.
Conor ducked him as hard as he could.
Conor is still Tony's bitch.
