Was it honestly so good that you see him being able to win that fight?
Watching it back, tony was still entering with his hands down, leaning back with his chin in the air. He got slammed and then hit with gnp.
I do not see evidence in that first round that he should ever return to top competition

Because he dropped Chandler and won the round on all three scorecards. If you want to predict Chandler still winning despite being down after 1, then be my guest. However, there's a difference between saying that and saying that Tony wouldn't have been able to win.

It wasn't pretty but he was still winning up until he got KTFO.

He was active even when he was taken down with his elbows from the bottom. Then dropped Chandler. Looked like classic Tony until his chin gave out. Think he needs a huge step down in competition though you're right.

He looked good against top competition just last night lol. He simply got caught

Tony looked fast and sharp, looked like he was only 30 last night until the KO. Unless his chin is completely fucked, it’s safe to assume he can still compete with the best.

I thought he looked better in those first 2 minutes than in his last 3 fights. His lack of defense is pretty standard. He also left Chandler looking pretty busted up, too, in comparison to Gaethje, Ollie and Doosh where he went to a decision and had more time to bust them up.

I think he deserves one more fight, but it should definitely be a reasonable match up. That is, if he wants to. If he wants to leave to Bellator or wherever - UFC should just let him.

Chandler did like 5 standing perfect backflips Gsp could only dream about doing. He wasn’t gassed, Tony was getting taken down and mauled all night

Chandlers street fighter flash kick has sealed Tony into the shadow realm the rest of his career

Agreed. Maybe return to a top hospital.

Remember that great uppercut he landed on Gaethje!?

Man, if he only had 20 more seconds.

Tony was competitive with Chandler and won round 1, 10-9. I think his decline has been greatly exaggerated but this KO doesn't help Tony any and he should probably take a 6 month break from sparring. I would like the UFC to give Ferguson someone in the top 15 range instead to see where he's at when he comes back.

The way Chandler just swept him off his feet like he was picking up his 5th grader cousin highlights how bad Tony is now.

He does not have the athleticism or physicality to compete in the UFC. He had no business in there.

It was cool seeing him tag Chandler - who gets hit in almost every single fight, including against much lower quality opponents - but at the end of the day Tony got seriously hurt.

This is why you don't make squash matches. Going 0-3 should not get you a ranked opponent.

It was a vintage Tony round. He's always wild and crazy, and that wild craziness gets him hit a lot but also does a lot of damage to his opponents. He looked dangerous and able to finish his opponent, which couldn't really be said for any of his last 3 fights.

However... that was an absolutely brutal KO, and even if he was having a bit of a resurgence, it's now incredibly unlikely he'll be able to compete at a high level again at 38 years old and coming off a vicious loss like that.

he could have done 5 more perfect form and bulging muscles glistening in the spotlight, gsp was impressed but he would never admit it prob

Tony had a good chin but that kick was on the button hard. most would not survive that kick. Tony likes to trade, worked wth Cerrone but Chandler, Justin, Dustin and Charles hit hard enough that unlikely to work. Max would be fun to see who outlast. My guess is Max since he shows some defense rolling with punches.

I thought Ferg was winning and was attempting to cash out my Chandler parlays early, but it wouldn't let me. Then it happened...

That kick would have cracked anyone. He looked fine before that.

He still needs to crush a couple lower level guys before returning to the top though
