Has he ever seen Tony fight? Which martial art other than wrestling is so in love with forward rolling?

I still remember when I was a kid our Soviet freestyle coaches had us forward and backwards rolling every class for warm ups (as well as bear and crab crawl). I could hit them from standing/moving at any speed in any direction. The move was if shit is going bad, just roll out of it. Tony still does.

My exact thoughts , in round 3 or 4 . Khabib is relentless with his takedowns and hes willing to fail at some to get in close . Thats where i think tony catches him and tkos hin
 
Conor was able to march Khabib down a bit early on so i can only assume Tony is going to try to put Khabib on the back foot since his wrestling threat won't nullify Tony's pressure if and when he keeps getting back up

I'm sure that they will bring in a 10th planet guy for some grappling. I grappled in bjj for years then dropped into a 10th planet where a friend trained. Never been so fucking frustrated with passing guard and getting caught in half guard. Those bottom bois play that shit all day and a bunch of em have weird as fuck flexibility.

WTF maybe I'm remembering wrong but weren't you saying for a long time that Tony had no chance in this fight, etc.?

Did you change your view on how this might play out? I'm pretty sure I'm not confusing you with someone else...

It's a nice overview of a lot of Tony's fights. What's missing? Guys who can really wrestle at the highest level - aside from Kevin Lee. Tony seemed to luck out in that one, since Kevin gassed (possibly due to a staph infection).

Regardless, it seems like Tony just hasn't fought enough fighters who can wrestle to handle good ole Khabibi.

How much wrestling can the guy do in 4 months? Probably not enough to beat someone who was practically born wrestling.

Tony has his pluses: length, size, good power in his punches without needing to overcommit, scrappy, unpredictable.

But is he lacking experience in fighting master wrestlers? He's just used to swangin and bangin, I don't think he has picked up enough experience in dealing with wrestlers. And it's not something you can pick up in a few months.

Yeah there's no doubt Tony can use that rubber guard to cause a stalemate. The issue is that he's then giving away time and more importantly isn't really making Khabib work. Tony needs to tax Khabib's gas tank early, but do it without taking tons of damage. He may take some, but if he can limit it and make Khabib really work for anything he gets that could pay dividends as the fight wears on.

I think Tony will use the rubber guard at times to (like you said) maybe try to frustrate Khabib but the thing is, Khabib is a super patient fighter. He doesn't force things that aren't there. Tony needs to sort of walk a tightrope and mix it up off his back. Use the rubber guard yes, but also switch it up and get his feet on Khabib's hips at times to threaten/push away and clear space to scramble or stand up.

You aren't wrong, Tony will think he's at home. But in Dagestan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, Khabib makes the official ruling on darkness. Under that bear-mauling-like control it will be vantablack.
 
I do agree Tony is too reckless for Khabib but of course it has to happen.
