I hear you but the band hes using is very good to stretch your body out. Its good when coming back from injury.
 
I know Ferg does some funky stuff, but what he was doing isn't half bad. It's like he's doing a hybrid back raise and modified glute ham raise all in his set. He's keeping his lowerback neutral the entire time. Nothing wrong with that.
