I'm curious how many posts on this forum over the years have asked to see this fight. It's kind of like the briefcase in pulp fiction. Would rather not see it because people expecting and not getting this fight IMO has been the fun and any real outcome would make the matchup less of a meme than it is right now.

Every one knows this fight needs to happen to cement Khabibs legacy, im a huge fan of Khabib but if he doesnt end up fighting Tony, dont know if fans in general will remember but i wont forget. I have bought every PPV Khabib was on for a long time.

The UFC is likely heavily pushing for a instant rematch for their highest grossing fight ever. They obviously don't like Tony or they would have never stripped him.

Think about it from their perspective. The Conor and Khabib fight saved their 2018 financially. Huge rivalry, backstory behind it. The company golden boy vs an undefeated Russian bear wrestling beast both with over 10 million ig followers.

Then there is this guy who is a great fighter, but branded as an unmarketable weirdo in the picture. They want nothing to do with that until they can milk as much out of Conor and Khabib as they can.
