Tony can defend single legs and leg hooks from Khabib

He shown great scrambling ability and defense against that type of takedowns. Kevin Lee had success because, besides being great at takedowns overall, he is also great at bodylock takedowns, especially when he is fresh and explosive. I didn't any bodylock initiative from Khabib, only sparse attempts while already pressuring someone against the fence, and in situations where it is easy to do.

This comes from a deeper analysis of fighters, rather than the typical narrow wrestler striker statistics.

I think Tonys wild scrambles may be a key to him staying in this fight.

Khabib has even said that one of fergusons biggest strengths is his unpredictability.

There is little doubt that Khabib will take him down, probably many times. But can he keep him there, is the million dollar question.

Such an intriguing match-up. Best lightweight fight in years.

I expect all sorts of rolling leg lock shit from Tony

That's true my brother. Ferguson is lanky but strong, the typical sambo tosses are difficult to perform against such type of fighters due insufficient space against someone as sinewy and scrambling as Ferg who will constantly look to create it and left them hanging on his arm or separate isolated part of the body. This narrows down the possible paths to takedown for Khabib, and Ferg can quickly, as shown in particular fight instances, defend single or double leg takedowns.

True analysis comes from evaluation of arguments, even from yourself.

Khabib never goes for single legs, or leg holds. He goes for trips and throws. Lol at you saying this is a deeper analysis.

He hasn't fought anyone comparable. There isn't anyone comparable at LW. I guess we'll just have to wait and find out.

He can
He won’t tho
He will get spanked for 25 minutes
If young Kevin with staph can dominate him before he gassed then he’s in for a good ole ass whoopin, Habib smash!

With the way Khabib goes for takedowns and GnP that's highly unlikely. I'd expect to see more attempts to get him into a situation where the rubber guard comes into play. 10th Planet is way more focused on that anyway.

I think it's a lot easier for Tony to prepare for Khabib than visa/versa Tony's scrambling ability will be key staying center cage will also be key. Khabib loves to use the cage fence as an assist to pin, clench, & grind, take all that away from him by staying center cage. I would hope to see Tony kill him with constant moving while picking & pecking with punches, jabs, kicks, elbows, f*king up td timing & rhythm, trying td's center cage is far more tiring without a fence to aide you and rest on.

The more I think of it the better I see Tony's chances with a solid game plan if executed well, lot easier said than done with Khabib...

Nah rubber guard is a thing of the past for 10th Planet, if anything I would expect a lot of slick deep half guard or transitions to and from “truck” position trying to take the back if he don’t play the footsies game

I think khabib smashes him on the feat - thats my deep analysis. Tanks man

Huh? I went to the Onnit Invitational a few weeks ago and saw most of the 10th planet participants using rubber guard. And that's still a fundamental part of what Bravo preaches. Heel hooks have way more applicability in bjj because they can be set up from a 50-50 position that never happens in mma. What are you basing any of this on apart from your opinion?

From observations but hey I could be wrong. I’m a big Boogeyman fan. I love nogi. Thats cool that you got to checkout the Onnit Invitational. Where do you train at?

Khabib doesn't use typical wrestler TDs. He's from a judo/sambo background. He's uses clinches, bodylocks and trips to take his opponent down.

I didn't mean to come across as a dick or know-it-all; OP's premise set me off. Heh. I'm pretty much putting this fight in the pick-em category. I personally think Tony gets the win via slick bjj that doesn't lead to a finish but makes Khabib second guess himself leading to more standing than one would think.

As for me, I used to train at 10th Planet Austin, but I'm now just a lazy fan (hip fracture kind of fucked me over).

My (very) deep investigation reveals that Kevin Lee is a bum and Tony will get wasted.
