Not like anyone cares, but figured I'd let you guys know. A friend of mine went to the fight. Apparently the winner was announced as his opponent initially, but Toney came back into the ring and was announced the actual winner.

Guess he got into shit with a fan right after, who flipped him off. Toney's trainer kept trying to hold him back and eventually threw Toney to the ground by accident, lol. Seems as if his circus career will continue. Sad, he was one of the best ever in his time. Still, it's not like he gets hit compared to other guys, but time to hang em up

Well my friend was at the fight so that is my source. But I just did a google and twitter search for Toney, and this guy's page came up. He is a sport's writer and commented on it too, so it seems to be legit

Looking back at Toney and his career, I can't say that his downward spiral is exactly shocking. Such a tremendously talented fighter but he didn't have the best head on his shoulders.

Agreed. But it honestly seems like all fighters stick around too long. I feel like I can count on one hand the number of guys who made it out without tarnishing their legacy

This tweet from the writer is a bummer. Makes you realize how far gone Toney really is. Here is the guy's record and info (his opponent)

" John Livingston ‏@jlivi2 1h

I honestly think Kenny Lemos (12-7-2) is beating James Toney (74-8-3, 12x world champ) through 7 rounds with one to go"

Toney murdering himself to make the Cruiserweight limit this late in his career was the perfect recipe for complete disaster. It completely killed his career, or what little of it he had left.

He was fighting at cruiser weight for this? I actually did not realize. What the fuck.. How is that even possible? I can't remember what he weighed in the UFC but he was fucking fat and I assumed he only gained more since. If he really dropped the weight that destroyed his body forever. Look at what it did to Roy when he went down to fight Tarver.. Was never the same. And that was while Roy was young too.. Toney is way shot. damn

An excellent fighter, defensively brilliant, but one lazy bastard. He could have been much more if he had the commitment.

Toney's fighting style is beautiful to watch. I think his trouble with learning the English language caused a lot of promotional problems for him, however.

LOL good one... he is def punch drunk! I remember the promos for his UFC fight has captions.

If only Toney had the discipline to not eat himself out of the super MW and LHW divisions. . .

In his prime he is one of the greatest boxers ever

Unmatched skill

It was matched several times. Toney was way more physically gifted than he gets credit for, nowadays. The man was granite chinned, heavy handed, quick and had great reflexes. Now, if only he was disciplined.

any idea of what kind of purse he is getting to fight an 8 rounder in Utah?

edit: in Colorado, saw Sky Ute Casino and assumed Utah
