The point is that Jon himself knows he's way more likely to lose to Aspinall than Stipe or Gane. Because of that, he demands way more money for Aspinall.

If every champ did that, HW wouldn't be the only division in disarray and it would of course be bad for the fans.

Why would the Aspinall fight be bigger, since we have heard all about how Aspinall isn't a star and that Jones wants to fight legends?

That’s not different than any big fight that has ever been made in the history of combat sports. You ask for the most money when the fight presents the most risk. Also when the fight presents the most return in terms of fan interest. Why should Jones accept the normal rate for this supposed super fight? I also think part of the problem is the buy rate is not what it used to be. Thanks to the ESPN deal and the exorbitant price. We never even hear about buy rates anymore. Years ago we used to hear about them all the time. So fighters like Jones demand more money guaranteed fully.

Dana should listen to the fans(hardcore and casuals) first and foremost because they have huge demand for this fight. If Jones won’t fight, strip his ass and make it Aspinall vs someone for the HW title. Fans just want to see a fight at this point, Jone or No Jones. Again, Dana should listen to the fans first because they are the money oil that keeps the UFC machine running. The fans are the UFC #1 client and it’s goods for business to cater to your client last I checked.

Crazy how long this fight is taking to announce. I thought within 60 days we'd know either Aspinall promoted to HW champ or Jones/Aspinall signed. Actually I thought we'd know at the end of the fight of Stipe/Jones.

Without Jones, the only interesting fighter for Aspinall are Gane or Almeida. Gane is injured, so I assume it's either Almeida or Volkov. I don't blame Aspinall for waiting as long as it takes because lets be honest besides Jones it's not like those are amazing fights that will carry a card for people to care about.

Jones is not confident he can win and only cares about his record protecting it, so far Jones has had hand picked opponents at HW and now that there's a challenge a real one that he can lose he wants no part of it, the 2 opponents that beat him previously Gus 1st time and Reyes are like smaller than Aspinall but even then they aren't as complete either and Tom is at his peak right now the odd's aren't in Jones favor.

Reminder that Tom Aspinall wants to fight to unify his interim belt. In order to do that he has to fight Jon who's holding it hostage OR Dana has to strip Jon.

Tom's situation is nothing like Chandler's.

Tom would move on I'm sure if it was for the official belt. While he would love to fight Jones and steal some of his shine. He deserves to fight for the real title. That's not desperate that's just pointing out something that's ridiculous at this point.
