That’s not different than any big fight that has ever been made in the history of combat sports. You ask for the most money when the fight presents the most risk. Also when the fight presents the most return in terms of fan interest. Why should Jones accept the normal rate for this supposed super fight? I also think part of the problem is the buy rate is not what it used to be. Thanks to the ESPN deal and the exorbitant price. We never even hear about buy rates anymore. Years ago we used to hear about them all the time. So fighters like Jones demand more money guaranteed fully.The point is that Jon himself knows he's way more likely to lose to Aspinall than Stipe or Gane. Because of that, he demands way more money for Aspinall.
If every champ did that, HW wouldn't be the only division in disarray and it would of course be bad for the fans.
Why would the Aspinall fight be bigger, since we have heard all about how Aspinall isn't a star and that Jones wants to fight legends?
