You can be the best boxer, kicker or whatever.
If you don't have good BJJ in your skill set, such anomalies like Holm losing to Miesha can happen...

It's not so much BJJ but defensive BJJ is the minimum needed. More so in the women's division because even a pure striker like Holm will lack the one punch KO power that a male striker can rely on, in WMMA there will just be more opportunities for TDs and ground game.
