He did yeah. But he can retire at any point. He’d just be under contract for another 6 fights until it expires or he finishes the contractDidn't he sign an 8 fight deal or something?

He made enough money. He is doing the HW fights for legacy. Stipe is old but he is probably the most decorated UFC HW.Didn't he sign an 8 fight deal or something?

Jones didn't look good to me against Gane. I think Gane's grappling is just that terrible.
If Stipe isn't much slower than Jones at heavyweight, I mean by that, if Stipe can keep up with Jone's speed, I got 40 some year old Stipe to beat Jones, unless Jones is somewhat close to his prime self. I don't think he is or would be.
Unless the UFC thinks they aren't worth much. They can't make people fight. Jorge retired and had a similar contract. The point of these larger contracts for aging stars is to ensure that they DO retire--not jump ship and transfer value to competing organizations.
It was obvious he wasnt gonna fight after beating 41yo Stipe to anyone with a brain. Confirms it here.

Nothing happened in that fight except for the takedown and finish. It barely lasted 2 minutes.
I don't know how you figure he looked bad when it was finished so quickly.
