    run with that....

read the text at about :45. good stuff. disregard the scissors takedowns and some of those 'roll on your back' sacrifice throws.

60% of wrestling translates effortlessly to BJJ. 30% is irrelevant. 10% must be actively unlearned. That's my math, at any rate.

Lemme guess: the 10% includes giving up the back, bellying out when getting taken down, proper head positioning on a double, and posting on the mat?

I guess you could say I'm a wrestler because I have wrestled in competitions and I plan on continuing to do so for the next three years at the very least, but my guard is actually WAY better than my top game, and I can pull guard with more success than if I shot in cuz my shots suck and I always get sprawled by other wrestlers and even jiu-jitsu guys. If they're upright I can usually get it, though.

Wrestling helped me tremendously in the ways that everyone else has said, too. My personal theory is that in regards to any grappling art, mat time is mat time, whether its bjj, wresting, judo, sambo, etc.

I can tell right away when I 'm rolling with a wrestler. They're the white belts gable gripping, under-hooking, and wrist controlling on the first day.
