TJ getting surgery

Death isn't the only danger.
Statistically, the odds of death in MMA and boxing are both very low. However, the odds of major injury are far higher in MMA.
Anecdotally, of course, but just consider every card the UFC puts together has at least a couple of bouts scrapped due to a fighter getting hurt in training camp.

So, my personal view is that just training MMA alone is more dangerous than training boxing, and that's not even the actual bouts where every weekend we're treated to broken bones, torn ligaments and tendons, and I recall even seeing a guy's ear fall off.
Statiscally the odds of death in boxing is significantly higher in boxing compared to mma. Each year an average of 13 deaths happen in boxing. How many total deaths has there been in mma? As of 2019 only 7 recorded deaths from mma total.

Both are dangerous sports but one has a significantly higher death rate. It's death vs injuries that we are comparing. Even with the serious injuries sustained in mma it wouldn't even equal to it's total deaths number in boxing.

These aren't anecdotal, these are factual statistics.

More people die in boxing compared to mma. That was the original point. The numbers are nowhere near close. Statistically boxing is more dangerous, higher chance of actual death - not just surgery.

But boxing is ‘not real fighting’ according to some experts

You can say that about any combat sport that isn't "mma". But realistically, most real fights have boxing involved. You're going to have a hard time finding a real fight where a punch isn't thrown.

Tj got plenty of time they. Aljo hasn't even signed for the rematch beating yet.
