That's not even alot of weight..poor guy, wish him the best.
Awful, hope the best for him in rehabilitation.
Hopefully it can be used in a positive manner to help get extreme weight-cutting out of professional MMA.
Insane - weight cutting craziness. Everyone pushes their bodies to the limit to weigh in for a day then both arrive back at a similar weight as they would have prior to cutting, effectively rendering the process moot.
Really need to be looked at either moving up weight by same day weigh ins and hydration tests and/or gradual weight cut and hydration tests for a day before weigh in like One FC
What's the opposing argument to implementing something that involves a test of both weight and hydration together?
I don't even understand the other side of the argument on this one.
Got damn. Prayers out to the guy. Commissions really need to crack down on this shit.
Nothing will change until someone the casuals vaguely know dies in the UFC. Who knows it may take a second or 3rd death before Dana and Co does something.
Just a friendly reminder that USADA isn't there for catch anybody actually trying to cheat. They are there as a security blanket for the UFC in case an athlete dies.
Once an athlete in the UFC does die just remember this. They will claim their USADA anti-doping policy makes the promotion safer then ever and their PI is a primary reason why it's so much safer to cut weight in the UFC.
Try not to get too upset when they pull out these bullshit cards.
Nah literally just have them step on the scale right before they enter the cage and actually fight at that weight, the whole process is basically ported over from boxing and makes no sense really the 10 point per round and judges that are clueless and the subjective random scoring from top to bottom it's dumb af
Relevant to the sport as a whole in my opinion. At least for now.
Holy shit that's not even a big cut
The UFC controls fighter pay and could fix this almost literally overnight if it wanted to. You don't need commissions and testing and sanctioned activities to control financial incentives.
Optional hydration testing and walkout weigh-ins, with full disclosure and with the results having an impact on bonus decisions. If you don't opt in, you aren't eligible for bonuses.
Also, have Contender Series fighters and other contracted promotional fighters weigh in randomly -- at least weekly -- and compete at natural weight classes.
I'll allow it
Fuck these weight cuts and fuck weight cutting in general.
Fight at your natural weight. Same day weigh ins. This should be forced by the commission. I don't give a fuck if it hurts MMA organizations or not. if you come over certain weight then the fight is off and you are not getting paid.
Fighters would fight much more often if they did not have to go through weight cuts.
EDIT: every fighter must be weighed in 1 hour before their bout and if they miss weight they lose 80% of their purse. Trust me in that case no one will miss the mark intentionally
Strokes suck. Must have been close to not surviving too suffer that much negative effects. Especially that young. Had one myself approximately 5 years ago. Took a long time to be able to speak properly again . Hopefully despite the diagnosis there is hope for his brain to reconnect new pathways.
Shut up. Now isn't the time for that you cold-hearted fuck.
Its not ufc
I know what forum this is. This is the highest traffic MMA forum on the site, and weight cutting is one of the most repeated topics posted here. Thought that this was relevant to post here.
If the mods want to move it, they're free to.
I look forward Aldo's 135 cut
