Hey guys,

I'll give you my current program which I made myself, I was wondering if I could get some advice and some helpful criticism on my program. I only lift twice a week.

My goal is to build strength, explosiveness and speed.

Day 1-front squat 5x5, hang clean 6x3, deadlifts 1x5, assistance work (chins superset heavy db rows)

Day 2-front squat 5x5, bench press 5x5, push press 6x3, then some dips or weighted dips and push ups.

I add 2.5 kg on the front squat and bench press per workout and 5kg on the deadlift per workout, i plan on doing this until i plateau. I used to do 5x5 stronglifts but I found it didn't help my speed or explosiveness for mma.

on top of this im doing cardio 3 days a week and technique training 5 days a week. is this workout any good ? if not could someone help me out to create a better one lol. I would like to add on a bit of functional mass too so I am just eating a bit more

Why your own programme? Why not an exsisting one?

what are your maxes like?

Personally I think hang cleans/ deadlifts and bench/ push press in the same session isn't the best use of your time.

Just copy Starting Strength and do:

Day 1.- Squat - Bench - DL
Day 2.- Squat - Press - Clean

Add dips and chins at the end.

Tried and true with your personal twist I guess.

Yeah. This is a very sound idea.

Doing squats, deadlifts, and cleans on the same day sounds a little too intense for you.

Thanks I'm gonna give that a go

Speed and explosiveness for grappling or striking? Once you have even a modest level of strength, you'll find very little carryover between getting stronger, and becoming faster and more explosive at striking.
