Any tips for standing up in the guard? I am having trouble keeping good posture and keeping my ankles from being sweeped out under me.

I don't really agree that you need to be explosive when you stand up, I just do it the way Saulo does it in his instructional. I just wanted to confirm, if the opponent hooks your lead leg when you are standing up in his guard, do you just drop your knee (leg hes hooked on) on his chest, and get your leg out?anaconda said:Throw your hips into him - if your hips are forward, as well as staggered like someone mentioned, he cant sweep you. You have to be explosive when you stand up and throw your hips forward.

yeah what he said....WNYguy said:Be sure to control the rist or gi sleeve on the same side as the first leg you stand up on.
It's not really a special way, it's just the way he taught it in his instructional. It's pretty standard.wildcard_seven said:Could someone explain what Saulo's way is?
