Imagine telling the greatest boxer of all time. Money May, you will now lose rounds for standing against the ropes and blocking shots. Imagine how stupid that would sound. No matter if you make your opponents look like a fool trying to get shots in while you calmly stop that noise with ease. If you do that, its now considered ring control and aggression and that wins you fights. Do you know how primitive that sounds? Thats where MMA judging is right now. Its all about aggression in this sport and not about skill. It gives an edge to boxer wrestler tough guys who lack skill but just come forward and wrap up when things dont go their way.

This is how MMA should be judged...

Holly attempts to take Germaine down. FAILED. Germaine defended all attempts. Holly is the one working for it. Germaine is just chilling on the fence. Germaine gets points for stopping it. Holly is now looking like a fool for attempting. She is now losing points.

You see how much better MMA would be if we score it like that? Fighters would stop that nonsense right away because they now know that they would lose a fight because of it. The only fighters who would continue this are the ones who are actually good at dirty boxing. Randy Couture, Shane Carwin. Thats all fine. But if you hump ones legs against the fence for 3 minutes, its YOU that is looking like a fool. When I see a fighter do that, Im not thinking "oh man, look at how amazing he is. He can really hold on a leg like a champ." No. What Im really thinking is "look at this fool. Get gud."

Just like Muay Thai. You get in the clinch? Your ass better work right away. If I dont see knees landing right away, I want a separation. You dont want separations in MMA? Thats fine. Make the fighter attempting the takedown LOSE POINTS FOR FAILING.

Germaine won that fight. A draw if a point was deducted. Does it warrant a rematch? Nah. I didnt go away thinking the better fighter didnt win. Germaine was the better fighter. She deserves to fight Cyborg.

How about losing points for failing to make a logical thread?

Electric fence, I saw it in a movie, worked great

Nah first they need to get rid of an even bigger problem

Wmma in the UFC

<{yearp}>

If you grab the fucking fence...

If you jab someone in the fucking eye... (a replay would have to confirm its blatancy)

...then the ref STOPS the action and resets the fight where the victim pleases, be it on the ground or standing.

If you do either one a second time, you can then CHOOSE when the fight is stopped and fighters are placed on the ground or standing.

Please note: I have not given this much thought ATOLL.

I'm just talking shit, BUT...something should obviously be done.

You're gonna give points for stuffing takedowns

Are you stupid

So hey let's give points everytime we make someone miss while throwing a punch

Hey let's give points for escaping a submission

Let's not give point to the fighters who are advancing and pushing the action

Bro delete this thread cause you're just going to look like an idiot

That was one reason I prefer fights in a ring like in pride. Not near a much pushing up on the ropes

Cage grinding has been brutal lately

The refs need to stop yelling "You gotta work" from the other side of the cage while they smoke a joint and instead actually separate them and restart.

Shouldnt get points for stuffing takedowns

But you should not get points for pushing someone against the fence for the whole round... it should be considered stalling, not octagon control.

Go watch kickboxing instead of MMA.

Trying to advance and pushing the action should get points

Yes some Johnny Hendricks wall and stall with your head in someone's crotch no shouldn't get points. But that's the refs job to call for action and separate

If the ref is not separating them then there is a sufficient amount of action.

Make it fair. Let the viewers at home call in the winner.

That's the problem though, the refs aren't separating them nearly enough. A fighter shouldnt be able to run 3 minutes off the clock with one "takedown attempt." Holding someone against the cage isn't pushing the action... its killing it.

I'm inclined to agree with you, but.....

It takes two to wall n' stall. While Holly Holm's leaning against GDR for half the fight was boring and pathetic, was it any less pathetic of GDR to let Holm lean against her for half the fight?

In a judges eyes of the ref is not separating them then the aggressor is winning

Blame the refs.

Do I agree with what holly did, no way.
Germaine didn't push the pace either, when they took the centre holly was the aggressor too.

In my eyes as a judge Germaine didn't do shit but land a couple decent counters
