Lest just start this off by saying the guy can and has made Featherweight.

IMO he probably would have tried his hand at FW in his prime (instead of on his decline) had the division been in the UFC at that time.

Won and defended the UFC Lightweight belt.

Won the UFC Welter weight championship finishing the at the time WW Goat Hughes who was on 12 straight wins and was attempting to get his 6th straight WW title defence. Penn later KOed him as well. Also fought the concensus WW Goat to a split decision loss.

Won at Middleweight and on his debut finished the undefeated Rodrigo Gracie..

Fought Machida at HW/Open weight (Machida weighed in at 225 (Penn 191) Of course lyoto later went on to win the UFC LHW belt). Penn took him to a decision in a surprsingly competive bout.

In short he has fought guys who weighed in at anything between 145 and 225 which is an 80 pound spread.

If anyone wants to talk about Balls for stepping up in weight, You need to know and praise the man that is BJ Penn.

He definitely isn't weightless.

Yea he never had excuses and always trained hard....

Penn, Saku and Hendo are the 3 Kings

Honorable mention to Wanderlei for fighting Prime Crcop 2x, Hunt on 3 days notice and Fujita.

Why only an honorable mention for Wandy? he moved between Middle, LHW and Heavy same as Hendo.

Also Wandy had more fights at HW and fought guys weighing much more. Not a shot at hendo just seems like he certainly belongs.

Because Hendo holds wins over Fedor & Nog even if the Nog decision was bad and I already listed the first 3 and didn't feel like saying 4 kings cause it doesn't have the same ring to it. Either way those 4 guys are the best of the best when it comes to fighting anybody at anytime at any weight

A true legend. Newer fans just saw his losses, I was fortunate enough to start watching before his LW title run. One of the best LWs of all time easily, and still the LW goat imo.

Wand and Hendo are ridiculous as well. Hendo has wins over the #1 and #2 all time HWs, and Wand had those razor close fights with Crocop and Hunt that many thought he won. It's bittersweet because those fights combined with hendo 2 destroyed his chin and ended his prime. But two natural MWs going up and slugging it out with Hws like that is insane. You'll never see that again.

I shall accept your explanation simply due to the 3 kings reference.

Wanderlei fought Mark Hunt who was some 60lbs heavier!
