Tight hamstrings, lower back pain

From what you describe I don't think your hamstrings are the problem. I think you have chronically tight hip flexors. Your hip flexors if you didn't know attach directly to the lumbar spine and if they are tight, guess what else will be tight? Your lower back.

Playing guard involves flexing your hips a lot. So if your back gets aggravated by that it's probably a very good indication you need to stretch your hip flexors out. If I play a lot of guard or throw a lot of knees in MT I always stretch my hip flexors straight after the session because otherwise I'll get a stiff back the next day.

And I see Supple Leopard got mentioned a few times. Even if you don't like the book I'd definitely recommended adding banded distraction to your stretches particularly those involved the hip joint. It really does improve the results I get dramatically.
