US calls China a third world country, meanwhile China uses UV to kill the Coronavirus in 5 minutes and the NYC subway has workers scrambling for hours with wipes.

China is light years ahead of the US in literally everything. They have technology, we have Trump

China is so advanced! ❤️

During this covid19 pandemic, the safest ountry to be in right now will be China

Do you think this technology can effectively combat the Chinese virus, or is it just a scam to make some people rich?

CGTN is a Chinese government media channel. Just saying.

I have watched a lot of YT videos over the past 1+ months, so seen a few CGTN ones too. Every CGTN channel parrots and pushed the CCP narrative. Part of teh CCP narrative is that China is competent and effective in dealing with the virus while the US is incompetent and scapegoats the Chinese.

It seems like it could be a useful tool. Might just be overblown, or deceptively presented, like any number of other things related to Covid. Seems to have become a political hot potato though, so you either have to defend it or denounce it to maintain party loyalties , so tat's going to get in the way of figuring out how to effectively deploy it. That's kind of what we're seeing quite widely now, people becoming expressions of political coding and media talking points rather than having a focus on finding a solution to a problem.

Enough radiation will kill anything, but I've got no idea whether or not those lamps would reasonably put out enough UV to kill a virus. I've got one of those UV toothbrush stands and those actually work.

UV ligh does kill viruses but the question here is whether that robot going along the aisle of the train car can kill viruses on all surfaces of the train, because there are going to be cracks and surfaces that may not receive the UV light.

Imagine doctors at Cedars-Sinai developing a tool to use UV light inside the body...they'll probably be having patients inject disinfectants next!:eek::eek:

"Led by Mark Pimentel, MD, the research team of the Medically Associated Science and Technology (MAST) Program at Cedars-Sinai has been developing the patent-pending Healight platform since 2016 and has produced a growing body of scientific evidence demonstrating pre-clinical safety and effectiveness of the technology as an antiviral and antibacterial treatment. The Healight technology employs proprietary methods of administering intermittent ultraviolet (UV) A light via a novel endotracheal medical device. Pre-clinical findings indicate the technology’s significant impact on eradicating a wide range of viruses and bacteria, inclusive of coronavirus. The data have been the basis of discussions with the FDA for a near-term path to enable human use for the potential treatment of coronavirus in intubated patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). Beyond the initial pursuit of a coronavirus ICU indication, additional data suggest broader clinical applications for the technology across a range of viral and bacterial pathogens. This includes bacteria implicated in ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP)."

You disinfect yourself with your toothbrush stand?

Huh? The toothbrush, man. You know, the thing that collects the bacteria from your mouth and winds up not being as clean as you'd like it to be.

Sure, if it works. I hope we find reliable ways to combat the virus.

You need Lysol to make it more effective.

At least they are trying to disinfect their mass transit. New York City didn't start disinfecting their subway trains until April 24th.

How often would this UV disinfection on train cars be done, once a day at the end of the shift for a particular driver?

Wouldn't filling the car with upper cuts hydrogen peroxide be more effective as it will get into every little crevice and cover all surfaces ? Yes it would be much more expensive and the car would need to be taken off service and probably contained in a plastic enclosure so the Hydrogen peroxide stays contained .

Cuz corona? Sorta works I guess.

Maybe that's why Trump hasn't gotten it yet; perhaps all world leaders should invest in a tanning bed.

Has any of the Jersey Shore cast gotten the Chinese virus?

I applaud New York and Chicago for finally deciding it was time to clean the piss and shit out of the subway cars. One step at a time.
