After watching Ellenberger crumble in his second high profile fight in a row, I have noticed there are always a few fighters within each division that are always on the cusp on that next big step, but seem to always falter. Heavyweight: Travis Browne LHW: Phil Davis (maybe?) MW: Bisping WW: Ellenberger LW: Cerrone (maybe?) FW: Guida BW: Faber (but he's already made the big step into title fights) WBW: Tate (same as Faber) FLW: ? Please help me fill the blanks or tell me which ones are wrong.
HW : Overeem/Bigfoot LHW: Phil Davis MW : Bisping(Munoz maybe) WW: Burger, Hick Story LW : Nate Diaz(altho fought for title, seemed out of place) FW : Diamond BW : Would say dillashaw 4 days ago, now Jorgensen(altho he is at fly) Fly : Jorgensen
Disagree with your list. Overeem, yes. Bigfoot, no. Phil - yes....but it's hard to say that about someone with only 2 career losses. I'd go with Bader instead as a more deserving choice. Bisping, yes. Munoz, no. He's not good enough to beat elites - not a choker. (I'm a fan, though) Possibly could replace his name with Thunder Okami and start a new meme, "Chokami" Ellenburger - yes. Sadly. I'd also go with Maia. Nate - Disagree. I'd say The Punk, although each time Jim Miller is knocking on the door, he eats a loss, so..... Diamond - Disagree. Jeremy Stephens - but he is like a junior Munoz. Not sure if he chokes or is just not at the elite level to get past those final top-tier fighters into first place or a belt. Disagree - Not TJ or Scotty. Michael McDonald is the guy in this weight class that has come up short under the big lights when he has had the chance. I think he is one of the most skilled fighters in the world, personally, but for some reason he is stuck in the middle of that pack. Scotty - Still disagree. I'd go with Uncle Creepy in this division, definitely.
HW - Overeem. LHW/MW - Chael he's had 1,000 title fights and never won anything, did the same thing in am wrestling I believe. WW - Ellenberger & Alves. LW - Miller, Cerrone, Maynard, Olivera, Dunham & Guida. FW - Elkins & Lentz. BW - Faber, Benevidez & Wineland. FLW - McCall & Benevidez. WBW - Carmouche & Tate.
