I think Rory is a lot more versatile than Hendrix and has a better chance to mix in his grappling. But it's going to be hard for anyone to survive against Thompson's attack long enough to utilize their game plan.

I like Rory's chances better than most but man, just hard to see Thompson losing right now.

Rory poses a lot of problems for Thompson, but I thought Hendricks was a bad match up for Wonderboy too.

Rory may not be as technical of a striker, but his ability to dictate range and utilize every took in the kit is something that sets him apart from Thompson. He has great BJJ, good wrestling and his top game is really underrated. He's got a good chin and is very durable. Thompson can hurt him standing, but I just think Rory hits harder and is more diverse. I would expect him to win by KO in the third or fourth.

Edit- And I really like Wonderboy, but I'm definitely pulling for Rory in this for two reasons. He is my favorite fighter and the UFC is trying to fuck around with him and lowballing him hard. Sucks they made this match up right now, but I hope Rory tools him TBH. Rory deserves to get paid.

I hate this matchup because of that. I think Thompson vs Lawler would be amazing but I don't want to see Rory get screwed either.

Fucking UFC did this on purpose. Dana talking about letting Conor fight Lawler if he beat Nate but won't give Wonderboy the shot and pits him and Rory against each other. Typical.

I think stylistically it's a really difficult fight for both guys. Could see a lot of this fight ending up in the clinch against the cage.

I watched Stephen fight as a teenager 20 lbs heavier than WW. I don't think he was ready for ground fighting at that weight and yeah he totally gassed. He's good with the cut now so don't look for him to fade early.

it was so early in his UFC career. I was shocked they threw him to the wolves like that. He definitely hasnt showed any weakness in his later fights that I can see. I hate this matchup considering they both trained together ( I think I recall him spending time at TriStar) and Rory's situation.
