THIS, this is why Fedor is the greatest of all time !

he is the GOAT but it has nothing to do with Jones's addiction

Fedor being a humble guy, and man of few words, didn't make him the GOAT, but it certainly added to his mystique. He was like a silent, emotionless killer in the ring, but just a polite, soft-spoken guy outside of it. In a sport full of aggressive, trash-talking types, it def added something to his aura of invincibility that he was the antithesis of most of those traits, and was the best in spite of it. As for the money, of course he did it for the money. It was a career, and he needed to provide for his family. I'm sure his love of martial arts was the main reason for him getting into it, but ultimately, he wouldn't have did what he did if there wasn't a financial incentive to do so. He would've worked some regular job and did Sambo on the side probably.

This. Especially if the UFC remains the top MMA org the Fedor nuthuggers (not regular fans) will be going crazy as Fedor is mentioned less and less. Fedor has his spot in GOAT history but people who act like he's far beyond the rest of the people mentioned in these discussions are delusional.

That's cool if you think that, but in reality, Fedor is the GOAT, and it's pretty obvious to anyone in the know, who isn't inherently biased on the matter. I mean, the only other guys in the convo at this point are GSP and Anderson. GSP had losses in his prime, generally didn't finish fights, and retired as he was starting to decline before he had a chance to start losing fights. Anderson had losses in his prime, was a PED user, and sometimes would give us "fights" like Maia, Leites, etc. Both fighters avoided the weight classes above them(at least the elite guys in those classes), and both generally shyed away from their opponents strengths. Both great fighters mind you, but pretty ridiculous to claim they've surpassed Fedor on some sort of fantasy, all-time, p4p status.

edit: Respect to all, but Fedor is the GOAT.

Fedor

GSP
Anderson

Aldo

Jones

Were do you get Fedor fought for the love of it? He's been pretty clear that he fought for money so his family would be taken care of.

Beat me to it. And he is the GOAT regardless.

So basically you accept whomever UFC markets you as GOAT... kind of strange to hear you admit that your opinion of whos GOAT is heavily influenced by what the mass audience thinks... :icon_surp

As for Fedors relevance your statement is not true at all, it has more to do with being an active fighter. Fedor's legacy is already cemented, theres to need to hype him.

And Fedor fought in the UFC where the best fighters were.
