yes, it is, but there are also people like me and my family who take these pets in. Most of my cats have been rescue cats. Our current cats, one was from a guy I was helping move (used to do that for work), total stranger and what an asshole thing to do. One of the best cats I've ever had though in terms of friendliness and likeing people, if they knew how vile we really are they'd stay away from us.

My buddy "inherited" a chocolate lab when they bought their acerage. The people they bought from found the old guy out in the bush with half his tail frozen off. They built him a dog house but never let him inside and he wasn't really "adopted", so they just left him when they moved. That old dog was so happy to live his last few years as an indoor spoiled dog. He was awesome. The Doobie/ Rottie cross they rescued, on the other hand, is still a handful. Guess that's hardwired into him as we're pretty sure he was used as a bait dog.

Long and short of it is it's pretty cool there's people willing to help our furry friends.
