I think they see the UFC as being weak right now. Due to covid 19 they have a limited roster and limited venues, so they are more likely to give into high profile fighters demands in fear of losing them.
Alot of fighters seem to be banding together in asking for more money.
Could go well, could go horribly. Guess we'll see.
 
You are right. UFC has been living in good economy. Now that the great depression is coming you are dreaming if you think you are getting a raise.
 
If they really are on the second fight of their new contract (Jones & Masvidal), I really don't know what to say.

I mean, you’re not wrong. I can’t imagine going to my boss in real life and asking for a pay bump. Not sure why that wouldn’t apply to a fighter either. That being said, if you’re delivering a product that risks your entire career value, worth, and future earnings potential like jones moving up to fight ngannou, I can understand it to a certain extent
 
Every industry in the world is either struggling or has straight up tanked. Ain't nobody getting a pay raise across the globe.

It sucks for the fighters. Jon and Francis for sure deserve a pay bump for that fight. The reality is most people I know have been asked to take a paycut at their jobs, the world is crazy right now.

The catch is, none of the fighters can fight for another promotion while under contract with the UFC. So, their only alternative is to just retire. But retiring means the loss of most of their income. Knowing all this, the UFC can call their bluff.

And to top it off, even if a fighter retires, fairly often they wind up coming back.
 
It's been proven time and time again UFC can make new stars. The show will go on either way these fighters are shooting themselves in the foot.
 
This is the best time to ask for a raise. Companies can't afford to lose good people right now.
 
Its the best time. This is when they have the most leverage. If espn wants shit cards, ufc shouldn't pay the figheters. Lets get ray borg to headline a card. That'll sell.

The main issue is the UFC never asked him to do that. Jones just went on his iPhone to make a fight and then demanded a substantial increase in pay.

Which all the fans have been asking him to do for many months. But yes, I agree, he should have had the conversation before taking it this far

MasDIVAl got a little taste of that PPV points money and now wants some more. Problem is it was Diaz that was the draw not him.
