This is going to be the most exciting year of MMA in the UFC in a very long time..

I know the UFC likes it's ppv bumps from GSP and Silva, they may make 5% less this year because of those guys absence, maybe not. I hope not tbh, because the reality is WW and MW just got infinitely more interesting, and none of us know wtf any of the title fights at either weight will look like for the next 3-4 title fights, and that's a good thing. I would have liked that WW tourney to get the max out of that stacked division, but I guess the UFC has made it with that 2007 model and doesn't want to change anything. Fine. They still make great cards.

But even with no out of the box thinking (like a WW tourney) that would probably make them all the money back they are losing off the big two going bye-bye for a while, there is still going to be some really awesome and new style match-ups for titles at both MW and WW.

Bones seems to be coming back to the pack, like he is realizing that it wasn't supposed to be that easy. MW is going to have some awesome fights for the title, and to find out who fights for it (more so than previous years), and WW has about TWENTY (20) guys that could make a couple fight run and be a serious contender for a title shot, with about 10 I would really like to see get one.. WW also has a bunch of heavy hitters I think GSP was pretty lucky to get away from, you aren't going to do to Hector Lombard at 170 what you did to Dan Hardy :icon_neut

As long as they don't act to anal and uptight, and let the divisions flow and don't try and over control them with bland or predictable match-making, this year (and maybe next) will probably be the most interesting, especially for fans who know their MMA.

I agree, I'm really looking forward to WW and MW divisions this year. Jones will have a very tough year if he decides to fight 3 times. Curious to see who will become the next contender at 155 and how they'll match up to Pettis, who I hope fights more than once. What a great way to kick off 2014 with Barao vs Cruz. Not to mention I've been hoping for Mousasi vs Machida for years. Should be fun..

Aldo, Rousey, Pettis & Barao will rule 2014.

Every other champ will lose.

Hopefully heavy weight comes around in the next year or two. Lhw looks better with Cormier though

Last year was the best year in UFC history. Its gonna be very tough to top especially considering how low the injury rate to marquee fighters were compared to most other years. I dont think we get as lucky w/ the injury bug this year. We already know Cain will likely only fight once this year

I am so excited for the MW and WW title fights that will happen this year. So man exciting contenders! And all the other amazing things that will happen this year. It's not a very bold claim to say this could be the best year in MMA history.

Just the opposite for me and many many others. Without GSP and silva it will be less exciting. There are not many interesting fighters with draw left.

It really could be.

I think the first 4-6 months will be slow and then things will pick up at the end of the year because some of the champions are injured. In 2013, 164-168 were all stacked.

Cain is the most dominant champ right now, not in title defenses but in how much better he is than the rest of the division. The only one with any hope whatsoever of beating him (JDS) is going to have to put on a long streak to fight him again.

Cain easily starches Werdum or Browne.

Nobody is touching Jones' belt either.

:icon_lol:

Go to the UFC website and pick the best 20 WW's you can find, then look at the list, then slap yourself.. GSP was fading, and couldn't finish a can of pop IMHO.. Even though his run was more than impressive.

MM is better than the rest of the division than to a higher degree than Cain or Bones. LOL @ nobody touching Bones belt did u miss his last fight? Now u got DC dropping down a dude who hasnt lost a round and might well wreck that division

Cain wouldnt easily starch Browne either thats a tough fight for him

Agreed.

The WW and MW divisions have just became extremely exciting. The UFC will probably lose some casuals until someone else draws them in tho.

Which year was the last year to be more exciting than the upcoming one?
