Fun fact according to statistics COVID 19 had little if any direct effect on his poll numbers. They say over the past 6 months the numbers stayed pretty much the same were he got hurt the most was the 1.5 trillion dollar tax break. A solid 73 percent of the electorate felt that was a bridge to far.

He actually for a short period hit a 36 percent approval nothing he did during COVID did he drop below 43 percent approval. In fact were his poll numbers picked up steam was when he held daily COVID briefings. His numbers topped 50 percent.

There are a lot of areas to look at such as his attitude towards women that hurt him a ton based on polling and his attacks on John McCain and his flavoring the wealthiest at least it seemed that way.
